Dang!  She is having a rough time.  Hope the community rallys around her and gets her some help.

But...21 minutes and LE still wasn't there?

CBS actually showing reasonable, well spoken, intelligent people as gun owners.  And NBC is sponoring the New Products section at the SHOT Show this year.   Has Hell frozen over?

No.  It can't.  Because of Glowball Warming.

And now that I saw the video...  good golly she's had a rough year.

Your heart just goes out to someone who's had such a bad time. At least she isn't being charged with anything because she defended herself and her child, in some localities it would be different.

Joe,

My guess would be she lives in the sticks and the deputies were on the other side of the county.

I wonder if Oklahoma has what I think is called "felonious homicide." In other words, since someone was killed in commission of (I assume) a felony (burglary of an occupied dwelling) the other involved party (in this case the co-conspirator) is guilty in the deceased's death since without the crime the dead partner wouldn't have died.

Reminds me of a similar situation when I was just a year or three removed from wearing khaki diapers.  My oldest brother came running out from taking a bath saying that someone was looking in the window.  My Mom told us to "Sit on the couch and stay there!"  Then she grabbed the double barrel shotgun from the gun cabinet and went outside looking for the guy.  After a couple of circles around the house and garage, she came back in and called the sheriff.  When they got there they found unaccountable footprints in the dirt by the windows and back door as well as leading at a more rapid pace away from the house toward the woods.  The sheriff chided Mom on going outside and asked her if she would have actually shot the guy.  She looked him dead in the eye and said, "You damn right I will,  I don't care who it is or how many there are."  The sheriff's only comment was to advise her to make sure that the intruder at least falls inside the house, to which my Mom calmly replied, "If he doesn't, I'll drag him inside before I call you."  Truth be told, she was as scared as she was angry while walking around that house in the dark in her housecoat and slippers, I can remember her hands and shoulders shaking so badly she couldn't even light a cigarette or hold a cup of coffee while we waited for the sheriff.  But she wasn't about to let anyone threaten her or her kids.
My heart goes out to this woman.  So young to have so much thrust upon her shoulders.  I hope, as time begins to heal the pain of her loss, she finds peace.

CCO, looking at the house and the surroundings, I'd agree that she lives half a mile out past the boonies. But we are told over and over by the anti-civil rights lobby to just call 911 and let LE handle everything, they are only a few minutes away.  I guess 'a few minutes' is a state of mind.

Sure hope that the local sherrif hooks the lady up with his critical incident stress debreifing team.

That is what us first responders use for PTSD.

Thanks Joe!!!

My pleasure, Boq.  I'm spreading that around to all the fora I haunt (and no comments about what I usually spread!).  That young lady has been through enough.  New mother, new widow, broke from her husbands funeral, she needs something to break her way.  I hope that address goes viral and enough people donate to set her up for life.

Old QM,  I hate the term "first responder" as applied to LE, fire, emergency medical, etc.  They are usually the second responders, as the first are almost always the ordinary citizen who drops what he is doing and helps out until the pros get there.

She is a brave woman who did the right thing all along, despite the terrible problems she has been dealt.
Her son will grow up to be a fine man.  A sheepdog for sure, and probably a warrior.
May God bless her, her son and her late husband.

Saw the article on her earlier but nothing of the rest of her year mentioned.  They say you compress coal you get either a mess or a diamond.  She might be a diamond.

When I hear First Responder I think the 5 minutes late responder.

She might be a diamond.

She is.

Definitely, Bill.

Up here the Courts would be after her on "unsafe storage charges" only to be dropped when they realize the extent of the  public outcry, of course she would be in even worse shape after that. Glad to see the police trying to help her.

She lives in the old Confederacy. We see things a bit differently down here.

I think OK has a felony death law. I heard it only briefly, as I was at work and walking through a building, that the dead perp's partner was being charged with murder. I may have geard wrong, however. I hope not as he would richly deserve such charges.

That wasn't about robbery.

A pretty young lady and her husband recently dead. A baby to hold hostage to force compliance...

If she hadn't killed, she'd be dead after a long while of suffering.

Shai Dorsai!!
