A little zen...

If you can start the day without caffeine,

If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,

If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,
...
If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it,

If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,

If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,

If you can conquer tension without medical help,

If you can relax without alcohol,

If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,

Then....

You're probably the family dog.

However...

If you can start the day without caffeine, but would love a pat on the head and some tennis ball time.

If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains, and working through it because you know you must, you simply have to.

If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles, because you care more about theirs, and where is that tennis ball, anyway?

If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it, because it comes from your partner.

If you can take criticism and blame without resentment, only a resolve to do better.

If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time...

...but you'll die for them in a heartbeat anyway

Then....

You're probably a working dog.

Two fallen bomb-sniffing dogs - who found the IED that killed them, but their alert saved their two-legs.

Many people remember a fallen soldier as a person in uniform. Sometimes that soldier is the four legged friend who saved your life by being a bomb-sniffing dog and finding the IED and warns you about it before it explodes. This is a sad but beautiful picture of pure respect for 2 fallen heroes.

Now is the time at Castle Argghhh! when we dance sing two sparks to the Great Hunting Ground and Tennis Ball Chasing Facility at Piddler's Green.

Go rest high on that mountain, thou good and faithful companions.  Your work is done, and the soft green grasses at Piddler's Green await you.

Dogs are humankind's best and most faithful partners.  Any value system that ignores this has no value at all.

Rest well, sweet puppies.  You both deserve that most esteemed title, "Good Dog"!

It got real dusty here for some reason.

As much as I love teh kittehs, doggy loyalty to their humans is just amazing.  Dogs can be very loyal to right-bad humans, as we know.  Hell, humans can be loyal to to some right-bad humans.

HOW EVER, yer average doggy can tell a good human from a bad' un, and knows where to direct his loyalty.  God rest those dogs!

It's been a relationship that has lasted at least 33,000 years and we've been getting the better end of it the whole time. "If dogs don't go to heaven when they die then I want to go where they go".

By the way, it looks like these two heroes are Military/Police dogs from Brazil. Killed by the gunfire of criminals rather than IEDs, but that in no way lessens the sacrifice of these brave souls, and the point is very well made..
here is a link if you read Portugese(?) if not google translate is your friend.

Thanks for finding the source of the picture, Dave.  I got it via Facebook, where it was appropriated to be bomb-sniffing dogs who had died in the line of duty.  The truth is better, and offers more honor to the two fallen cops by properly crediting them.
