Random Firings From A Misfiring Random

This morning, I was assaulted with this bit of agit-prop:

Where do I begin to unpack this delusional pack?

At (0:48) He states:
that’s the debate about how to tackle the problem of our deficits and our debt.
Oh I dunno, Let's take this in for perspective:  It took from Washington to Reagan to make a $1-T debt.  It took from Reagan to Clinton to reach our $5-T debt-point.  It took eight years for Bush-43 to rack-up another $5-T.  And in your short 30-Month rule, you''ve burnt through another $5-Trillion.

Then at (1:00) he blunders:
It means taking on spending in our domestic programs and our defense programs

We won't fall for those putative cuts that are projected 10-years into the future and are never carried-out by future Congresses.  Tip O'Neil snookered Reagan into it.  Same thing happened to Bush-41 back in 1990.

Followed at (1:05) by this little gem:
It means addressing the challenges in programs like Medicare so we can strengthen those programs and protect them for future generations.

Oh, like the way you raided $500-Billion out of Medicare in order to Rube-Goldberg your 'Bammy-Care?

On his next breath at (1:08):
And it means taking on spending in the tax code – spending on tax breaks and deductions for the wealthiest Americans.

Spending on the tax code.  Since when does the tax code spend?  Tax Breaks don't spend, your profligate pork does!  And lay-off envy hatred and resentment.  They are all negative demonic emotions, used by Socialists to pit one group against the other.

At (1:41) the De-Barred Constitutional Lawyer blurts:
And we agree that we simply cannot afford to default on our national obligations for the first time in our history;

Yes - The State of Illinois Bar summarily took-away his and Michelle's law licenses in 2008.  To date, no credible journalist wants to look into it.  But you must have done something REALLY bad to be thrown-out as an officer of the court.  But I digress.  Section 4 of the 14th Amendment to our Constitution reads:

The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law... shall not be questioned.

Meaning that come hell or high-water, The U.S. WILL NOT DEFAULT [PERIOD].  And if we do default, it is because you Mr. President, made a unilateral decision to question the validity of public debt against The Constitution that you swore to uphold and defend.

At (1:51) he goes on:
With a recovery that’s still fragile and isn’t producing all the jobs we need, the last thing we can afford is the usual partisan game-playing in Washington

Sure and with your constant attacks on the wealth generators of this country, what else do you expect other than "Growth-less Recoveries" as far as the eye can see.  Knock-it-off with YOUR games Mr. President.

Then he has the gall at (2:02):
By getting our fiscal house in order, Congress will be in a stronger position to focus on some of the job-creating measures I’ve already proposed – like putting people to work rebuilding America’s infrastructure, or reforming our patent system so that our innovators and entrepreneurs have a greater incentive to generate new products, or making college more affordable for families.
Translation: When we raise your taxes, we can go on spending some more.  And wasn't that the purpose of TARP?  To lay pipe, build bridges, roads and sewers?  If you didn't piss it all away on your cronies to advance your Socialist agenda, we'd have something to show for it for future generations.

At (2:27):
And businesses that may be holding back because of the uncertainty surrounding the possibility of a default by the U.S. government...

Businesses are holding-back because of all the uncertainty that you've injected into our regulatory and fiscal systems - YOU DOLT!  And we will only default only because you yourself will be committing an impeachable offense - SCARE-MONGERER!

I could go on, but this entry is getting too long for my catharsis. There are many other nits to pick on this. Can you add some of your own?

"Can you add some of your own?"

Hmmmm.......I *could*, but since I enjoy, and would rather keep, my commenting privileges here, I'll pass.

Greetings:

In response to your question about "...when does the tax code spend?", my answer would be "for quite a while now." One of the results of former President Clinton's "welfare reform" was the diffusion of welfare programs throughout government programs under various guises, today's "wealth redistribution" so to speak. One of those miracle of Congressional malfeasance was a neat piece of work called the Earned Income Tax Credit.  This nifty little bugger not only allows the marginally productive but highly reproductive to pay no taxes but to actually get back more money than they paid in. Democratonomics, paving the highway to fiscal hell.

Gary nailed the strategic obstacle that prevents us from dealing with the spending problem:

" People that pay attention know the guy is an asshat.. The problem is with the othe 66% of the electorate.."

And risking my sanity to do OPFOR research, I see the several times a week email solicitations from the Obama machine for money (only $5 or so, but multiply that bu a few million people several times a week...) and especially to get busy now organizing fellow easilly misled idiots for voter registration and getting commitments to help Zero's campaign.  There is little chance to change the minds of people who fall for that crap, so we have really significant challenges ahead to defeat them in November 2012.

I don't know if they guy is delusional, or a true Marxist, socialist, or just anti-American product of his hippy upbringing and racial preferences and twisted theological exposures.  I do know he is destroying our country, bit by bit, and not just around the edges, but at the very core values and institutions which made us great.

If Obama wins in 2012, our nation is in irreversible decline, and may already have reached that before, then if saner minds in Congress fail to slash spending and protect our national defense.

As a Congressman said "He lies!"

I don't know what you guys are talking about. All hail the Commander in Chief. I'm sure the country will be just fine when we get back.

By getting our fiscal house in order, Congress will be in a stronger position to focus on some of the job-creating measures I’ve already proposed –

Unfortunately, the only jobs your proposals have created are in the public sector -- most notably, in the IRS. The Revenooers need 25.000 more agents by 2014 in order to make sure everyone not enrolled in Obamacare (or a clone of it) pays the penalty.

like putting people to work rebuilding America’s infrastructure

FDR did that with the WPA and the CCC -- pay was a dollar a day and a barracks to sleep in.

or reforming our patent system so that our innovators and entrepreneurs have a greater incentive to generate new products,

It's not the patent system that's at fault, it's the Byzantine tax codes and federal regulationary snares someone who wants to manufacture a new product has to untangle before he can actually begin manufacturing.

or making college more affordable for families.

Congress can't do a damn thing about making college more affordable. That said, someone with hands-on experience and no degree is more attractive to an employer than someone with no experience and a transcript full of "[ fill in the blank ] Studies" -- and the smarter kids are finally picking up on that.

BOQ...TARP was used to save the banks and steal GM and those Jeep guys so the gomint could give the lions share to the Unions. The "Stimulus Package" which took tax money we didn't have to give to States was used for those not so "shovel ready" road projects and to create jobs for gomint Unions. 50% of the people in 2010 didn't pay any income tax...who are they going to vote for? It's going to be an up hill battle.

A question to the more Season Citizens among the Castle's Demense: Was Jimmy Carter as clueless and idiotic in his arguements as 'Bammy here?  I mean, I was barely into my High School years when he was ushered out of the White House.  As such my memory is a bit fuzzy, on the disaster that was our 39th.

How worse is 44th than 39th?

Did he mention his proposal to change the Redskins' name to the "Grapeskins", because the colour purple would be more bipartisan, and unify the nation behind its football team?

Cheers

LET ME SEE IF I'VE GOT THIS STRAIGHT. THE STATE OF ILLINOIS BAR "REVOKED" (OR WHATEVER) THE LAW LICENSES OF BARAK _AND_ MICHELLE OBAMA? SHADES OF THE CLINTON ERA! 2 FOR THE PRICE OF 1!

I must have pulled a Rip Van Winkle here somewhere.....

Boq, your numbers are way off. I suspect part of the problem is that you might not be adjusting for  inflation. Debt in 1920 dollars is much different than debt in 2000 dollars.

Wiki has a graph here showing both the public & the gross national debt from 1940 to 2010, in 2010 dollars. As you an see, the debt hit nearly $4 trillion during WW2, and returned to about $2 trillion by 1960. It pretty much stayed there until a small uptick during the Carter administration. In the Reagan/Bush I years we see an increase back to c. $4 trillion. Clinton's numbers show a symmetric hump (excuse the pun), with an end-of-administration value approximating the start. Bush II kicks it up from c. $4 trillion to c. $5.75 trillion, with Barry pumping it up to nearly $10 trillion. I used public debt; as you can see the gross debt numbers begin to seriously diverge during the Clinton years.

So, actually Reagan doubled the debt, while Clinton kicked it up $5 trillion, then paid it back down about $4 trillion. Also Bush II did not increase by anything near $5 trillion. $5 trillion total at the end of the administration, maybe.

You did get it right about Barry burning thru another $5 trillion on his lonesome, so you got that going for you... :)

I think it was Roger Simon over at PajamasMedia who suggested that not only does Barry does think he knows what he's talking about, but that he thinks he's doing a good job...

What's really sad is that the infrastructure part of his stimulus might have worked, but a quite a few feminist groups went librarian-poo at the idea of a bunch of stinky, hairy men getting the money. What about them? What about their needs? It's not fair that blue-collar white males get the moola while feminist tracts on gender roles & queer studies go begging for funding!!

Idiots.

This country would smell much better if we could get rid of our B.O.

Thanks Casey, I was recalling some data I once found back in '08 at: Mish's Econnomic Blog. A bit erudite, but well worth the read.  You are correct in a sense that you are taking a 2010 Dollar yard-stick.  I was talking of dollars in absolute terms. (Heh - As if the USD would have a constant store of value).  Check these two graphs straight from the US Treasury:

http://www.treasurydirect.gov/govt/reports/pd/histdebt/histdebt_histo4.htm

http://www.treasurydirect.gov/govt/reports/pd/histdebt/histdebt_histo5.htm

They speak in the same yard-stick as I did.

DL, I ain't afraid of the Armorer moderating my comment; I can say exactly what I think without resorting to cussin' (well, at my present level of ethylization).

I'm more worried about what the Secret Service would think of me.  Owhell, in for a penny, in for a pound. That Gunwalker thing right there borders on treason, if it does not indeed cross the line.  It is certainly impeachable.  Hey, at least he's not quite as bad as Lincoln, yet. Habeas Corpus is still sort of allowed, from time to time.

P.s. Somebody had to say it:  I hate Illinois Nazis.

Abraham Lincoln: The Original Illinois Nazi.
