Okay, let's run another non-standard Whatzis...

Non-standard in that I take away *all* your whinage about scale. There's cat hair *and* a ruler in there. To forestall the nit-pickage, the ruler is marked in inches. Not arshins, nor Sumerian Nippur Cubits, etc.

[The pic will embiggen if you rub its belly]

You figure out what it is pretty quick, I'm thinking. The question is - what's it a component of? We'll see who has their geek on.

As this blogger reads your whatzisses, I seldom even get close, but that doesn't bother me. What I read the whatziss posts for are the humorous comments, and that INCLUDES the whines. Cutting out the whiny responses kills the humor in it for me, so, harking back to my Union days, I'm calling for a Job Action, and I will stop reading whatziss posts until said whines are restored!

Dammit, Rivrdog, you're a hard bassid to please!

About 5" long and about 1/2" outside diameter and hollow, I figure it's a sighting scope.

About said, "Job Action", reminds me of the character, "Ron", who kept telling his wife how to clean the house. It was found that "Ron" died of an unfortunate accident. It appears that "Ron" was going to pick his teeth, the long way, with a #1 wood driver golf club. Everything did not go as planned, this was the reason for the result. I understand there may be some controversy on this case and its findings.

Could this be the missing sighting scope on the previously mentioned golf club?

A plum weight...not the fresh juicie kind...but the weight used on a plum line for Red Legs to attach to a tripod to establish with way is up. From what I've learned recently...knowing where up is, is very important to Red Legs.

Rotating pistol barrel, perhaps? Looks about the right size ot be a Steyr-Hahn, but the camming piece is not there or not big enough. Still could be a rotating pistol barrel anyway.

Hmm, looks like a stripped rifle bolt, .30 caliberish, or maybe 8mm.  The locking lugs are way back in the receiver instead of up by the chamber like usual.  SMLE Mk III or IV, maybe?

I was going to say it looks like the bolt for my savage .22lr without the handle installed.  But at 5" I am thinking its a pistol barrel, CZ vz.22 maybe....

Looks like the internals to a variable power scope of some sort.

I'm going with Og as it looks like a pistol barrel with a rotating lock arrangement.  Looks like about .32 cal, so the rotating lock may just be to lock it in the frame rather than lock the slide to it.

Fish, it ain't a plumb weight. Plum weights (or "bobs" as they are normally called) are pointy at one end. That's not pointy, so it can't be a plumb bob.

That's all I'm going to say. I'm honoring Rivrdog's puicket line and will remain out in brotherly solidarity for the oppressed whatzis workers of the world.

 I's not a S.R.I.F.N.W.L.S.
... also not a SMLE bolt.

Cheers

Looks like a boresite adapter. Place it in the barrel of the weapon and then insert the boresite scope.
That's my guess and I'm stickin' to it.
