It's official.  The Global Effort On Tuggy Feelings, Formerly known as the Global War On Terror is over.  We have declared victory, so it's high time to fold down the tent and go home.  Hopefully, we can now concentrate on building Day Care Centers, Tilting At Windmills *er* Building Wind Energy Turbines Of The Future, Enshrining HealthCare as a Civil Right, and saving Gaia from ourselves, or something.



If Wölf Blinker said so, it must be true.

The Pakistanis didn't allow it. Former president Musharef issued a statement condemning the action. Wolfster also thought the Green Berets did the deed, not Navy SEALS. What a doofus.

This happens at this point in every war that has this result. Lest you forget, it also happened BEFORE the war in Merrie Olde Englande in 1936, too.

The problem with the Pakistanis is that they are divided.  While many in the Pak gov't have been helpful to us in the GWOT - either because they agree that jihadist terrorism is a threat to Pakistan and the civilized world, or just to continue the gravy train of US aid money -  there are many others in the ISI and Pak military and Pak society who share the radical Islamist dreams of the jihadists.

I think it's a mistake to trust any of them any more than we have to.

What else would you expect from them?  After all, they STILL want to continue brewing that fresh hot black tea.  And they have seen, from the San Francisco Chronicle no less, what happens to THAT if they fail to prostrate themselves before The One.

One could also envision that the ISI has always been, since the days of Hamid Gul,  a "Shadow Government", and entirely rogue organization in Pak.
The "Official" government always thinks it has control, but it never was so. There are many articles, dating back 15-20 years, about ISI, Gul, Taliban, and the policy differences.
The ISI, pretty much, IS AQ, and the Taliban.
The Pak government can not admit that, as it would be admitting to being a nuke-nation with a completely rogue element that they have no idea how far it penetrates into "The Government" per se. A pretty FUBAR country.

"BS", This is ALL 100% pure and all natural BS! The Paks knew nothing until after the fact! The message probably went something like this, "We decided to drop by and clear up some unfinished located less than 100 yards from your military academy. WE WILL TALK or we may just FedEx our thoughts, overnight air delivery!"
