Joe and Fritz's weapons...

Continuing the discussion of the artwork for the documentary Apocalypse that I opened in this post, let's get down to the nitty-gritty.

First - Fritz and his Mosin, in a close-up:

Now a real Mosin butt, for the holdings of the Arsenal of Argghhh!:

Now, Joe's rifle:

And, finally, an equivalent Mauser - in this case a Brazilian Mauser from the Arsenal's holdings:

So, I think we're looking at a Mosin, probably not photoshopped in, and a Mauser, which most probably was photoshopped in.

Looks about right. Strange- given the selection of images available to the producer- those two ended up on the cover...

Not so strange, considering the producer probably knows even less about militaria than Argent did when he first started popping in. That said, it's not his job to know militaria, it's his job to know good film footage. It's the art director's job to know his subject, and my guess is that Joe was carrying his weapon at waist level, so Art stuck a "rifle-looking thingy" in the pic to maintain the warlike theme.

So, we know Art goofed -- how'd the producer do, John?

I'm only half-way through the first episode.  It's not been too bad thus far.  And the narrator has been able to handle the non-English names correctly.  I remain hopeful.  But I'd like it for the color footage, if nothing else.

Did you find the other end of the Mosin?

Cheers

I was rightfully considered on the Moisin. I was screwed on the other.
I was leaning toward a lousy repro of a US 03/A3 on that one.
Gimme 50%.

Oh, good grief, John.  Now you're just grasping at straws.
