His best was the Wildcat.
 
Dad was fond of the Albatross. He got a ride in one after the F9F he was testing flamed out over Long Island Sound and he ditched it.

December, '51, it was. I remember that he had the sniffles for weeks...
 
If you look at all the pilot disposition slots on that chart, notice all the KIA / MIA / rescued entries. And then you come to the one that reads, "Pilot egressed okay." I reckon there must be a gene for that.
