There Will Be Kneecaps Up To Arseh...

You know you've been well conditioned when your heart stops four times during this: First when the rifle is dropped. Second when the rifle falls apart in the Inspector's hands. Third when the Inspector hands the remains to the Marine. Fourth when you think about the next conversation that the two will have...

Actually, while the Silent Drill Platoon attempts perfection during every performance, they do have some understanding that "stuff happens"...

Yeah. I winced when I saw the Marine miss the catch. When I was in the Navy a drill team was practicing with fixed bayonets. One of the bayonets hit the stock of a Springfield in the otehr column in countermarch. It snapped the stock in two and the piece went flying. It barely missed other troops in formation.

Boq, what is with the Russian?

I guess, I am well conditioned, too... My heart stopped exactly at the same moments you mentioned, Sgt B :o)
Cricket, it says "military mishap" - I did notice that BOQ likes to visit Russian youtube :o)

That was incredible. I'm not sure I could have stayed at attention through all of that.

Boq, I wouldn't be too quick on my assumptions. The whole concept of "The Silent Drill Platoon" is everything is done by cadence or "by the numbers". Now, as the instructor inspects the rifle, he then taps the ground, he then begins the rotation to transfer the rifle back to the Marine. Every part of this is done by the numbers. If the instructor fails to rotate the rife at the proper point in the cadence, you get what you saw in the video. It is wrong to stop here. The video didn't stop here. The instructor stopped the drill, cleaned up his own mess and presented it to the Marine. This action has shown that the instructor is a true leader of *men*. This is the leader's responsibility.

Cricket, you have raised a question, but that is a much bigger story behind the question. You have raised the question about Russia and the Russian print in the subtitles. Russia maintains a news agency called, “Russia Today”. The bigger story is about our Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper. Some of our Congress Critters have raised a question to him about the real threat of China and Russia. Some of the bloggers decided that this was ripe fruit. But both groups did not listen to what  Clapper actually set in context of the Congress Critters' questions. The Congress critters wanted to know our greatest threats to our national security. Clapper tried to help them understand that there are two actual parts of being a threat. 1. The capability to attack.  2. The desire to attack. Using this threat matrix Clapper made a determination that even though the Russians and the Chinese,  had the capability of attack, they had no desire for it. Critters tried to manipulate Clapper into giving the answers they wanted to hear. But the facts just did not support  their conclusion.

Pretty embarassing.  I suppose if Grumpy is right it would be doubly embrassing for the Instructor.

What is remarkable for my view though is they continued on in as best form as was possible, despite the probable pressure.

As I've said before, I you stay on the virtual interstate of these here interwebs, all you are going to see is homogenized fastfood restaurants.  One has to hit the backwater rural roads, to get a good feel for the real lay of the land.

And besides, by doing so, I'm teaching myself to at least read phonetically the cyrillic alphabet.

Ruskiephile Boq, Oh Wise One, "And besides,  by doing so, I'm teaching myself to at least read phonetically the cyrillic alphabet."

By the way, Oh Wise One, what profound insights have you discovered through phonetically reading the cyrillic alphabet? ; - )

Armorer, *really smart move*, now Boq is the one with all of the answers. This should be fun!

BOQ, that would be "rusophile" :o)
