It's *one* way of getting the kids used to the sound of being shot at.

And preferable to the other way -- having an unfriendly marksman wielding the bullet-launcher...

@BillT, I kinda  like your “more preferable to the other way...”. It keeps the kids on their toes, always looking over their shoulder. Let's just say this, it motivates them in the principles of CYA.  There was a time when the guys would say, “Cover my back, but not too closely.” Armorer, yes, I know, times have changed.
