To me, the kicker, though it got far less attention than the "the poor-wealthy gap is widening!!!1!" line, is the huge change in the lowest countries' condition from start to end.  On the health axis, the worst country in 2009 is still noticeably better than the best country in 1810.  Naturally, assistance from those countries in the upper-right can't have anything to do with that...

big fallacy as well. The "wealth axis" is not adjusted for inflation, thus skewing the result.
In reality, $40.000 today will not buy you much more than $400 did 200 years ago in Europe or north America, while in Africa it will probably buy you exponentially more.
