Coast Guard What???

Someone still doesn't know the fifth service branch.  Must have been a corpseman that tripped him up

What else would you expect?  How can this surprise ANYONE any more?

If he only took a couple of minutes and listened to his own speech. Really listened.

I blame the teleprompter.  THE WON is incapable of mistakes.

Ah, the plight of the Coastie. The stories of woe abound, from being mistaken for the Greyhound Bus driver, to the inevitable "Is that a civil service job?" slurs and slights, fist-fights at the Navy's EM club, etc. None-the-less, we did our job, and held to the old maxim "You gotta go out, but you don't have to come back in"

Semper Paratus and Merry Christmas to all!

I had a retired Coastie Profesor at Tennessee Tech. Used ot be head of the EE department at the Coastie Academy. I called the USCG the "Hooligan Navy." He said "call us anything but Navy."

I shared a classroom with Cpoasties in QM 'A' school at newport and two of the instructors were Coasties as well. The Navy Chiefs were always playfully bickering with the Coastie Chiefs. It was funny to watch and all in fun.

Still nothing to nitpick. The camoflaged field piece looks nice.

I hate to be the materialistic weasel of the group, but how many Coasties are in the sand box right now? If Boq hadn't highlighted that slip, I probably would have ignored it had I watched the speech cold.

As for TOTUS, I was going to observe that he seemed to be reading from notes on the podium. Maybe someone on his staff has finally begun to get a clue that the teleprompter has become a bit of a joke, especially after India?

...Is it just me, or was he speaking with a distinct midwestern twang during that speech? I don't think I've ever noticed that before.

One of my housemates is a former Coastie. I mentioned that I feared them more than the other services, because they can arrest me.  He said "Yep" with a nasty grin.
