Someone has been reading the  "Ugliest dress/parade uniform of all time" thread on militaryphotos.net. It, the thread is getting good.

"Is the goat, or did I forget my deoderant AGAIN?"

Basking in the joy of their recent win over Army and the upcoming repeal of DADT, The Navy allows Seaman Jones to walk the Academy mascot.

My recruiter lied to me!

I enlisted to become a cannoneer, but now I'm escorting Iranian war brides.

Greetings:

I'm guessing that that axe is to keep the goat in line.

Mr. John Donnovan, Army Ret., of The Castle Argghhh! conducts the annual "shearing of the first goat" ceremony at an undisclosed location near Leavenworth, Kansas..........

*cosmic facepalm*

That man has no ass, therefore it is not me.  As if I'd be caught dead in that pimp-bling, anyway.

Yes we have dinner in tow!

Or after dinner companionship.

I was going to crack funny about teh ghey and observe that the side with the prettiest uniforms always lose, but then I read about the Spanish Foreign Legion. Some of them can get serious:

Spanish Legionaires in Iraq.

Further evidence that that is not the Armorer:  his bayonet scabbard appears to be empty, thus I assume his bayonet is fixed on his rifle.

And yet he is not bleeding from either hand.

Has anybody told the people at the Naval Academy about the location and behavior of their mascot?

I didn't think the new DADT UN Piece Corps uniform was going to be revealed until the first of the year!  I see that they are bringing their own leashed entertainment....Marvy!

As anyone who has read "The Reason Why" will understand, that guy is just full of military fail.

Because why? His pants are too tight. That is uncool, un-manly, un-military, and makes him look silly. Aside from the other things which make him look silly.

...and the reason they thought gilding the goat's horns was a good idea is -- what?

BillT, there are so many beings about this picture, it reminds me of the “Flower Children” of the 60's. This would be nice way to put it, but I'm thinking in other words, “Blooming Idiots”.

BillT, I am having a problem getting my head around those gilded horns, myself. Is that supposed to be gold or brass, that might shed some light on it? If that is supposed to be brass, it would mean a great deal. In this situation, your guess is as good as mine.

I hope you can find a rationale for such stupidity. One last thing, make sure the Navy is aware of tits behavior. I hope there will be a guide through this type of silliness.  I just hope we can still have some fun and games in the future. As much of this game is tradition, so is some of the silliness. But this picture, is*way* over the top.

Grumpy

Is that supposed to be gold or brass, that might shed some light on it?

It's gold leaf.

Gilding the lilies.

And to top it all off, the damned goat is outta step.  Or he is.  I am not really sure who is supposed to be in charge of this little formation...

What is strapped to the dude's thigh?

Bayonet scabbard.

Orange braid with gilded horns?  Is he mad?

Bill, the Navy likes Gold as well as pink, Liberace, and other such things.
