The empty dish...

...the tennis ball that sits forlorn under the chair. The unchewed chew-toy. All signs of a huge hole in the family.

Longtime Castle reader Miss Ladybug has lost her best friend - the one who was *always* there.

You were my dog your entire life. I saw you be born. I always loved how your one ear never really stood up all the way. But it was time to let you go. I miss you already. I love you.
We know how it feels here at the Castle.  But we couldn't imagine the Castle without the Guard.

Gunner!  Assemble the Guard!  Suellen!  Sit still!

Now is the time at Castle Argghhh! when we dance sing a soul to the Great Hunting Ground and Tennis Ball Chasing Facility hight Piddler's Green.  It's just across the street from Fiddler's Green.

I am so sorry...I have been wondering how you were holding up.  ((((Hugs))))

Thanks, John.

Abby didn't leave me alone.  I still have her littermate, Tipsy, and my cat, Junior, to keep me company.  It will still take a little getting used to, though.  14+ years is a long time...

Ms. L,  I am really sorry that Abby has left.  All of us that has been lucky enough to have wet-nosed friends, know how big the void is when they are gone.

You'll know when Abby's found the Watching Spot, Miss L -- one day, you'll find an Abby-hair in a place you've vacuumed a hundred times...

She was definitely a shedder... I could never brush her enough to make it stop.  Giving her a bath just made the shedding hair clean ;-)

Tipsy doesn't look anything like her.  She has more of their father's look - the long-haired shepherd look of a shepherd/border collie mix.  Of course, she's not recovered from the clipping I gave her at the beginning of the summer, either...we're gonna work on getting her hair to grow back like it should have...

{{{{Miss Ladybug}}}} I am so sorry.  I know how much that hurts.  Sending you big hugs and Bratdog slurps from here...

be strong and remember

All my best wishes. I mourn the loss of the best humans less than the loss of the commonest dog.

I lost my Aussie Cattle dog buddy in Feb 2001. Her favorite word was "ride" and she would run, not walk, to the car barking every step of the way. The void remains to this day.

Those critters know how to get under your skin, and we tend to be very good enablers.

My condolences on your loss.
