Lance Corporal Terry E. Honeycutt Jr. came home yesterday morning. A so-called Baptist Church however, made public its intent to come and ridicule him at his memorial service. A friend and I made the hour-long drive to La Plata, Maryland, to ensure that this misguided act of hatred would not go unanswered. I personally was expecting to join maybe a hundred or so like-minded citizens. To my surprise, about three-thousand answered the call.
From 0900 to 1200hrs, we all assembled in quiet vigil along Route I-301. Our half-mile long buffer between those whom LCPL Honeycutt loved and anyone with ill intent served its purpose. The police escort tagging behind the so-called Baptist Church congregants, reported that as they crested the hill commanding the approach to the church where the memorial service was being held, they were confronted with a Sea of Red-White-and-Blue. That sight, they reported, deflated their intentions. Upon which they made a U-Turn not to be seen again.
Mission Accomplished.
Out of respect, I will not share with you neither my impression of the family and mourners, the stoic eulogy given by his mother, nor pictures of the funeral procession. I will however, share with you my personal pictures of the honor guard. An honor guard made of 3,000 of our own citizens and neighbors that makes this Free State of Maryland, Free. If anyone however is interested, The Washington Post published this morning a report on his funeral: HERE.
Earlier this week, I shared with you the ugly problems which burdens us. Today, I'd like to share with you the hope and promise that will one day deliver us, in this our Free State of Maryland.

Now is the time at Castle Argghhh! when we dance: In Memoriam.

And tears but...wow.
Enough of your grateful countrymen will appear
To guard your family and friends from those hateful few
Who would desecrate their somber remembrance of you.
Rest in honored peace, Lance Cpl. Terry E. Honeycutt Jr.
Semper Fi.
I read that someone slashed the tires of the Westboro folk's van. When the Westboro group asked for local assistance, they received the "cold shoulder". Eventually, AAA showed up to take the vehicle in for repair.
Wish I'd have been there to take credit. Karma's a real female dog.
Good job of supporting the Honeycutt family in their time of sorrow. What truely motivates the "Christians" of the Westboro "Church" is beyond me. They better hope for God's mercy rather than His justice.
@MajMike, You have an accurate assessment of karma, sometimes, it really sucks. Earlier in my life, my Dad explained children to me. When children misbehave they are seeking their father's attention or they are not getting their rightful portion. But what they don't understand is this, as long as you are within the rulez, you're fine. But remember, this does nothing, in the child's view, towards gaining more of your Dad's attention. So they get "smart" and step over the line, but this brings dishonor to Dad's name. The child gets home, now he has his Dad's *Undivided Attention*. Dad and the child have a "chat+", behind the woodshed. The plus after the word chat means any other additional actions deemed necessary to correct the child's actions. Remember, being the center of attention can also mean being in center of God's crosshairs. This is the way I see this group from Westboro. I refuse to use the term "Christian" or "Church, capitalized or not.
The Westboro clan was met with the love for LCpl Honeycutt. That love overwhelmed their hate and drove them away.
The Westburo bunch will certainly have much to answer for come Judgement Day.
I, too, am hoping for God's mercy rather than His justice for myself.
