So, let's tease with something pulled from Behind The

Beretta-built BM-59 "Paracutisti" model. Semi-auto version. Looks like an M14, but it's really an M1 action with a removeable magazine, vice the en-bloc clip-fed internal magazine of the M1 Garand. The soldiers and Marines returning from WWII and Korea are why so many people are technically incorrect when they call magazines clips, as the warriors called magazines clips because, well, theyd been loading their rifles with... clips. Though, technically, they were loading the magazine of the rifle with... clips. Yes, that's a pet peeve of mine. Why d'you ask?
The BM59 from the left side, with the grenade launching sight extended. Extending the sight also blocks the gas cylinder, so you can launch the grenade with a blank cartridge. That long thing in front of the sight is the "Tri-Compensator," or "Tricomp" for short. It's a flash suppressor, recoil-reducer, and holds the grenade - three functions, hence the name.

Nice.
And it sure is a purty gun. The marbling on the stock is gorgeous.
John, if my quickie-research was correct, the BM59 also includes the ability to load rounds from the top, Garand-style. Is that correct? I imagine it would make life easier for someone wanting to pop in a blank round to fire a grenade.
Me likey!
I'll pass and keep working on my collection of Ruger 10-22s. Last I looked I had 2 used standards, 2 WalMart Specials, and 1 Ruger's 25th (?) Anniversary Special Edition.
JTG - you are most assuredly correct - Pedantic is one of my "middle" names!
Casey - yes, you can 'top-off" the magazine, or load singles. There is a "clip-guide" integral to the receiver, as per the M14.
damn thats a nice looking M1.
