The latest incarnation, which went live today, is Big Peace, a defense and foreign policy site.
MaryAnn of Soldier's Angel's Germany is on the front page.
Uncle Jimbo is on the front page, too.
And a little bird tells me that there might be something from a bitter bible-toting clinger-to-guns who lives in a fortified compound "somewhere in Northeast Kansas" up there
Over the next few days, you might find some other persons-of-note you read regularly over at Big Peace, and hopefully for a long time into the future. Like the Salamander, Bruce McQuain, Steve Schippert, Troy Steward, Greyhawk, CJ, Princess Crabby, Mark Seavey, Mary Ripley, Marc Danziger, JD Johann, Grim, Dave Bellavia, Afghan Old Blue, as well as some other guys and gals who write for the think tanks, academia, and otherwise work in the field.

I have read your post, and look forward to part 2. I was moved to look up Sir John Monash on Wikipedia and found that he was even kewler and manlier than Liddell-Hart said he was. He was knighted by the King on the battlefield, the first time that had occurred in 200 years! As an engineer, he was a rational man, so of course he started his military career in an _artillery_ militia. As a general, I would rank him right behind Belisarius, who is #1 IMHO.
