The news still sux, so I'm going to continue being mean...

Now, I *could* be so mean that I just gave you this picture of the whatziss, but, frankly, I figured that might bring out the torches and pitchforks, and Moat Monster just had some dental work done that precludes him eating angry peasants for a few more days, and you know how solicitous we are around here of the critters...

So, in a gesture of unusual magnanimity on my part, I'll give you *this* picture instead.

And I'll follow it up with some more info - the picture was taken outdoors - the blue is the reflection of the sky.  The item itself is silvery in color.  I suspect you'll get what it *is* now, and if so, the question shifts to that "specificity" thing I mentioned yesterday... yeah, okay, it's a __________ but what is it a component of?

Of course, if you get it right off - the what is the larger object part - you are a geek amongst geeks.

Or own one.

Going along with the previous pic and this..

this is obviously the locking detent of the/and the fold-out bayonet attached to the "fighting hamster machine". (Google for hilarity factor)

Seriously now, it's a bolt assembly from something.  But which something?

It's a bayonet of some manufacture I cannot identify.  It looks like a blade and fuller to me at least.  I just can't figure out the hole with the threaded screw in it.

Savage/Stevens-ish boltish automaticus .22-ish?  Maybe?

Or maybe Springfield.  I'm still looking.

Bolt assembly for a BREN gun perhaps?
