Mayoral Suppositories, I Suppose

Great Pearls of Wisdom, spilled forth:

The irony seems lost on the Mayor... that the citizen (a retired cop allowed to have a handgun) put paid to the perp.

Heh. Of course, if we were allowed to keep our ban, criminals wouldn't have guns.  Only law abiding citizens would...

Wait - a law abiding citizen with a gun...

No, dammit.  Just stick it up your butt and pull the trigger, journo.

Daley is the classic example demonstrating the illogic of expecting a complete gun ban to protect citizens.  He just doesn't get it, and I hope the Supreme Court rules against the ban.

Further irony lost on Hizzonner Da Mare:

1. He communicated a terroristic threat,

2. While brandishing a firearm, and

3. Did so before witnesses.

'Nother words, if the reporter felt so inclined, he could haul Hizzonner's carcass into Federal Court.

 Greetings:

This may be a fine point, but what struck me about the episode was the reporter, who asked a very good question, describing the rifle as having something to do with the Civil War because of its long bayonet.  In a photo I saw, it looked like a (Commie) SKS carbine of a relatively modern vintage.  My point being that shouldn't a reporter covering this issue have some knowledge of firearms or, better yet, some personal experience.  I don't think that one has to drink the ocean to know it's salty, but at the same time I can see how every weapon can end up being described as an infamous "assault weapon" with this reporter's demonstrated level of knowledge.

I think you mean "with this reporter's demonstrated lack of knowledge".  But yes, this is a strong symptom of the problem.  Those who don't know (or want to know) writing authoritatively about topics they refuse to understand.

When owning a gun is criminalized, only criminals will have guns. They can't stop drugs, prostitution, moonshine, gambling, dog fighting, illegal immigration, and cream donuts (very bad for you) and they want to take away self protection (not condoms the other kind).

My favorite carbine is an SKS.  And it is most accurate when the bayonet is attached.

There was an old proverb, "A fool is one who talks much about that which he knows little." You could say it this way, "Taking the long route, is this a dang fool just shooting off his *BIG MOUTH*?" For many years, many people from both parties, seem to embrace this asinine logic. The pun was most definitely intentional!

What Beth meant to say is "when the bayonet is extended."

Commie rifles with integral bayonets are factory sighted for bayonet extended, in case you wonder why yours shoots high.

Assuming that's the only component of the problem, of course.

Greetings:

I was kind of hoping beyond hope that too much attention would not be focused on those nasty Commie bayonets.  Some chillies are forever.

An 80-year old citizen of Hizzhonor Jr's municipality terminated an intruder today with a firearm of some sort (article didn't specify type). A local lawyer has already volunteered to defend the gentleman pro bono if he is taken to court.  The aforementioned cleaner-of-the-gene-pool is a retired Army veteran.
