Heh. Of course, if we were allowed to keep our ban, criminals wouldn't have guns. Only law abiding citizens would...
Wait - a law abiding citizen with a gun...
No, dammit. Just stick it up your butt and pull the trigger, journo.
Daley is the classic example demonstrating the illogic of expecting a complete gun ban to protect citizens. He just doesn't get it, and I hope the Supreme Court rules against the ban.
1. He communicated a terroristic threat,
2. While brandishing a firearm, and
3. Did so before witnesses.
'Nother words, if the reporter felt so inclined, he could haul Hizzonner's carcass into Federal Court.
This may be a fine point, but what struck me about the episode was the reporter, who asked a very good question, describing the rifle as having something to do with the Civil War because of its long bayonet. In a photo I saw, it looked like a (Commie) SKS carbine of a relatively modern vintage. My point being that shouldn't a reporter covering this issue have some knowledge of firearms or, better yet, some personal experience. I don't think that one has to drink the ocean to know it's salty, but at the same time I can see how every weapon can end up being described as an infamous "assault weapon" with this reporter's demonstrated level of knowledge.
Commie rifles with integral bayonets are factory sighted for bayonet extended, in case you wonder why yours shoots high.
Assuming that's the only component of the problem, of course.
I was kind of hoping beyond hope that too much attention would not be focused on those nasty Commie bayonets. Some chillies are forever.
