Then, her status changed to POW.

Said former POW was found roundly abusing her captors, abuse which was immediately turned on her rescue team whom she addressed as "you  fat  bastard" while demanding to know why her "country had forgotten  her for three days!" Things calmed down after the third dinner as the  food  in "the cage" was "pooze" although she shunned the bed,  preferring  to sleep outside under her hedge where she had to beat the crap out  of  the cat from next to reclaim her space. Yeah that's right, shes  back and
she's bad. She slept well with only the occasional  unexplained  outbursts of "Johnny... JOHNNY!!!!!

The matter of walking up to random people and claiming to be  starving  was discussed and things were said about interfering busybodies  who  went round rounding up other people's cats. A collar with an attached  message will be fitted to the former POW this afternoon which  reads  "I am not lost, I have boundary issues. I am not hungry, I'm an  accomplished liar. Please do not take me away because my dad has no sense of humor."

A star has been added to her existing POW ribbon after the kidnapping incident of 2005.

In other news the search for Pest revealed that she like a nice mid morning breakfast at number 9 and a little something mid afternoon at number 15 where she has managed to convince the soft touches there that she is underprivileged. I refer you to the label "accomplished liar".

It got worse. The enemy turned from snatching to poison.

Current "catering" is actually reduced to trying to keep her alive since she hasn't eaten since the first meal when I got her home and she's just curled up under her hedge and not interested in moving. Since one of the neighbours cats has also gone missing we suspect something of the foul play variety has taken place.

And despite the best efforts of modern medicine, Pestilence Hill, feline supervisor of Murray of the New Zealand Weapons of Medieval Destruction fame, was declared DOW, died of wounds.

A skilled hunter, fearless dog fighter, extraordinary survivor and faithful friend, today she has been met at Piddler's Green by a dachsie named Sausage, and a mutt named Mojo, and a whole raft of other demi-Denizens. As one among us, Bad Cat Robot, observes,

The Guardian Angels can't be everywhere, everywhen.

Dang it.

Forgot to submit my condolences. I've had kitties as family. It is always hard to lose em. But when it's loss by hostile action, that's something else entirely.

I know I'm not supposed to advocate the "dont get mad, get even" thing is this place but... well...

Also, iirc from a "news show" last night, some place in Minn got some of that kill the economy "stimulus" cash to open up a theater named in honor of El Che. They're gonna be specializing in "socially responsible education through puppet shows" or some such.

Lots up North to look at with a weather eye. But, hell, I can't say nothin' on it, since I'm a Cali kid and we're so far up **** creek that we're at the source of the flow.

Centurion - you misread this, I think. Pestilence was a Kiwi cat, about as far from the northern reaches of this county as you can get.

Those folks up there in the northern reaches of the county have a proclivity to poison, anti-freeze seems a popular choice. I guess that this must date from their moonshining days. Down here, they just shoot them, thinking that no one will shoot back.
