            <description><![CDATA[There are six Medals awarded for actions on this day in our military history.&nbsp; All are from the modern era, World War II and Vietnam, and three are posthumous awards.World War II.&nbsp; The shadow of Mount Suribachi on Iwo Jima&nbsp;lies heavily on this day.&nbsp; All four WWII Medals were earned on Iwo Jima.&nbsp; Sergeant Gray survived his Medal action, but fell to artillery fire a week later, hence he is marked as a posthumous award.DUNLAP, ROBERT.
