Arms Room update

Come, come step behind the vault door...  the new racks are barely visible in the drop-off.

Better view of the new racks here.

The new racks are on the right.  There are still long-guns without rack space.  Darn.

Anything you see here is legal to own, federal, state, and local, where I live. That may not be true where you live, which is one of the many reasons I probably don't live where you do, if this sort of thing is illegal there.

Things that look explosive - aren't. We live here, folks. I don't store high explosive in the basement. Or anywhere else, for that matter.

Alls you need is a wet bar and a jacuzzi and it would be perfect. Oh yeah...and a long legged wench to serve drinks while we toil away trying to keep all that stuff clean.

Very nice.

I missed the Gyrojet thread.  I don't dislike rimfires as weapons.  Reloading, however, is a pain in the patootie.  Thus, the purchase of one  rimfire is enough.  I can practice reloading, but would not have to want to do multiple calbers of rimfires.

I envy you!  However, looks like you need a bigger space.....  SOON!

Some really great stuff there when you start looking close, it is not just quantity, but quality too.

TYM - there can be utility in more than one variety of rimfire weapon, depending on your circumstances.  There's a reason the only rimfire cartridge to  survive is the .22 - it's very cheap.
Enough so that reloading is a wash, really.

But I have had fun shooting my 10mm rimfire Swiss rifle - the ammo is surprisingly reliable for how old it is.

Fishmugger - the wet bar is upstairs, the hot tub is outside.  Wouldn't want the hot tub in there, anyway - moisture and salts.  The maintenance station is outside the vault, too.

J(NTA) - I observed on Saturday that we were going to have to spend $40K on a house expansion to build a room for SWWBO's new $100 hobby table.  If I include a corresponding basement extension...

Burrow!  Lots more room that way, and I can put in the fusion reactor in one of the lower levels.  Not to mention the submarine tunnel.

Well, we are on a hill with good drainage and bedrock substructure...

Clearly you have to many guns to love them all properly, for their sake and to ease your guilt, I wll take a few and give them a good home where they will be loved.

Plus, what's life if you don't have a few sticks of Tovex or bags of Amex around?

C'mon down and try, you syrup-swilling moose-lover.

Thank you for the insight.  It is more of a logistical excercise in getting the equipment.  There is vindication then, that the reason why there is only *one* caliber that has survived is because it is smaller and less costly to manufacture than a higher caliber.  That said, ME LIKES GUN ROOM!!!

John, I've been in gun stores that had a smaller inventory.

Of course, I've been in yarn and needlework stores that have a smaller inventory than my stash, too.

Threadbndr... you, you mean, *ulp* people actually *sell* their guns?  Not just gather more and more and more to them?

Heh.  I'm the "little old lady with a house full of cats" of the gun world...

I can't wait for Heinrichs to chime in on that.

Are you sure you don't really belong up here in Alaska?  You look like you could handle even the fuzziest neighbors. Nobody's gonna steal your salmon!
;^)

I know - it's a nightmare, isn't it.   On the other hand, my stash is more like ammo. - One uses it up - eventually.

In fact, there are several shooters in my knitting group, or is that knitters in my shooting group.....

At any rate, we have a saying "bullets or yarn.......  either way, the budget is blown".    LOL

Wow...

-Speachless Lt- <insert witty status here>

At least we have syrup up here worth swilling!! Not like that corn stuff that you guys use (known by the Quebecers as "syrup of the telephone pole") Plus I never met a moose  didn't like and we call them "swamp donkeys"

Are those Lee-enfields and a Martini-Henery on the far wall?

Knit a few rounds, shoot a few.  I take my knitting to the firing range.  I sit, working on whatever it is until it is my turn to shoot.  Our shooting buddies are another couple; she brings her crocheting.  It is a lot of fun.  I too, have a stash.

Gunners claim affection for pussies?

Cheers

I'm looking real hard and I don't see an M2HB with tripod and T&E, and preferably also an AN/TVS-2B... So I'd say there's a hole in your collection. You don't have an M60A? MBT, either. But that is barely forgiveable. Come lottery time, there's a whole hunka hunka burning holes for moi to fill.

No, I don't have a Ma Deuce. I do have night vision, but not that particular variety.

And if I'm buying tracked things with guns in 'em, I'm holding out for artillery.

Tanks are a dime a dozen...

"The maintenance station is outside the vault..."

You meanie! You did that on purpose! Don't want me curling up under the bench with a nice piece and a screwdriver! (The thumbnails seem to be getting fragile as I get old.)

JTG - yeah, that's it.  Nothing to do with space on the inside, everything to do with keeping you and your bad habits on the outside...

Sir, I hate you.  I hate you with every fiber of my being.  I cannot contain my jealousy.  Please do not squash me like the unworthy bug that I am.

Now if I could just hear the lamentations of McThag's wimmin...

Cricket - are you on Ravelry?   I'm there under the same handle and hang out (among other places) at the "Bullets and Balls" (of Yarn, guys, get your minds outta the gutter) and "Raveling Archers" forums - neither is real busy, but kindred spirits at least.

'Tis a fine domicile you have there, but methinks that, and not meaning to make SWWBO angry but as I was about to say, methinks that you require an additional 600 square feet of display space to truly do the armory proud.

*Tossing accent and diving for cover!*

David - I wouldn't disagree.  Nor, I think, would SWWBO!

No.  How do I do that?  The owner of the LYS here told me about Ravelry.  The Armorer has my contact information should Sekrit Signs and Other Neatness be needed...I am a member of socknitters but have been lurking for oh...about five years now.
