ooh, i liked where KCSteve went with that, cuz that was the missing link in my mental picture of it, but....

IF it was such an adjustable stock thingie what the butt end hangs off the end of, then that adjustment divot on the far left doesn't leave a whole lot of "thingie" to grab onto....
I've been having that "moment" since I saw the pic first time. I lknow I've seen that part, or one very much like it, somewhere associated with some weapon.... just can't get my brain to put it together.

My poor ol' brain is thinking the spots are not scaring and not use wear or use coloring but factory original.

I had thought to ask if they were spots, rather than holes, before posting that silliness about silencer barrel but decided to just wing it instead.
But in all seriousness that suggest that due to the coloring that there are carbon deposits travelling from near to far along the length lessining just cant picture where that would be in relationship to porting on a barrell... wait ......
Still no clue. My first thought was some sort of guard or cooling grill, but the darker metal really aren't holes. And as grooves, they're not really regular enough to be some sort of gear/cog/mesh/interlocking kind of thing.

But, the dark metal looks machined - originally, then scarred with use, so I am going with firing pin catcher.

...am not a shooter ... so I have an excuse ... for not knowing what it is, not for not being a shooter
:- )
