And now, a little virtual waterboarding for Seza...

In the Whatziss post of yesterday, Seza Geoff, who is an Ozzie, said:
No fair on us colonials using all this semi-auto stuff! The gov't took all ours away years ago, so all we have is pictures! At least the transitional rifle was more along the lines of what we are allowed!

Seza in Australia (who still wouldn't mind a FAL, Jungmans and a Bren to finish off with)

I responded thusly: "Seza - um, you *do* remember we were colonials before your lot got planted down there? We just threw off the Sassenach yoke somewhat earlier than you guys did..."

Now, let's focus on Seza's parenthetical: "(who still wouldn't mind a FAL, Jungmans and a Bren to finish off with)"

Uh-huh.  Ya mean like this?

Swedish Ljungman M42b

Some L1A1s and a Bren, along with other stuff

And that's leaving out the other Bren and STG-58.

Just cruel....  That's what you are.  Cruel...

Absolutely cruel -  I will have to think of how to respond in kind.  Do I wait until John is knee deep in snow and send pictures of me on the beach?  Hmm, that may set Greenpeace on me, trying to roll me back into the ocean!  Don't worry, I will think of something.  BillT, got any ideas?

*Sassenach*? You referring to that wee Gairmun laddie, George?

Do I wait until John is knee deep in snow and send pictures of me on the beach?

Better yet -- find some arcane piece of ANZAC kit in a museum and send him a picture of the lower left quadrant...

Bill's suggestion is far better than your initial plan, Seza.  I grew up in a climate zone north of Montreal - I *like* snow and cold weather.  I find beaches sweat-inducing and boring.

Not to mention drawing unwanted attention from the Marine Mammal Stranding Squad...

Hobbies are great. I love hobbies. Mine don't necessarily run towards collecting implements of specific targeted destruction but I can appreciate a man who's hobby does. I stand impressed every time you allow a glimpse into your world there.... and along with your book collection in the other room it *almost* makes me want leave the warmth of the southern clime and move back where real houses have basements. Almost. (Global cooling and frozen precipitation sent me south back in the 80's. No need to repeat the lesson.)

AGB42b, my first semi-auto, man I miss that rifle, hard on the brass though and willing to nip the hand that feeds it!

Joe - just means you have to add a room or two.

Bill - yeah, in that picture of the Kaydets - who's the Auld Phart in da middle, eh?

Beats me -- but the sunken-chested, pencil-necked, wizened old gnome seems to appear in *all* the pix I don't personally take.

Читал-читал и понял собственное несовершенство. Мда….
