            <title>Today&apos;s Medal of Honor Moment for 17 September</title>
            <description><![CDATA[This afternoon&nbsp;President Obama will award a posthumous Medal of Honor to Paul and Janet Monti, the parents of Sergeant First Class Jared Monti, who earned his Medal as an infantilleryman fighting in Afghanistan. This will be the the sixth Medal awarded during the current war, all of them posthumous.&nbsp; After the award is made, I will add SFC&nbsp;Monti to the 21 June Medal of Honor post, as that is the day he transcended the average soldier.For those of you who are following these posts, I will go back and catch up the ones that I missed while burying the Auld...]]></description>

I remember when he died, and when the award was announced a couple of months ago, but reading those two articles made me miss a man I've never met before.<br />

Man.<br />
How fitting that he gave his entire adult life to serve those who served with and under him?&nbsp; As his mother said, it is a bittersweet moment.]]>
