Which is what I've been doing instead of entertaining you guys. Found these two things I thought would tickle you. First up - as if there was any doubt. Second: Dorkasaurus sighting!

RRM - That's 9th grade. I was 5'11" and 195 lbs. Back in that day, anything over 185 was heavyweight.

Which was true in high school, too. Then I weighed 205 and the largest guy I wrestled was 405 lbs. I pinned him, though it took the whole match.

They STILL call them BC glasses. At the Marine!Goth's graduation, there were SEVERAL of his buddies who ran up to parents, wives, sympathetic GFs and grabbed contact cases, other glasses, etc after the moto run so as to have a better 'look' for their graduation formation pictures.

One of my drill sgt's at Fort Sill called them "birth control" glasses. Said I'd never get "lucky" in Lawton wearing them. LOL

FWIW...my dad (b 1938) STILL wears glasses like those.

He has a better haircut though...same flattop he's had since the mid-50s. Just a bit less of it now.

Those look like the frames that I was issued at Ft. Campbell in 1967! If'n I'd cheated on the eye exam, I could have gone to 'Mother Rucker' and been like unca' Bill, based on my 'strangely high' AFQT scores.
As it was, they wouldn't let me fly and I became a cannon-cocker. Sigh...

"Sorting through the boxes of a life well lived." This is also about learning about a life *being well lived*, yours. This is not the end of a journey, just a different stage. If you look at the chain of his life, you'll see the different links, Active Duty, Retired and Civilian. Did anything break the reality of that chain? No. Relax, take one step at a time. You're doing it. This is the reason I say, "This is about a life 'being well lived'".

Ahhh, The Blarney Stone, certified, no less, now, we know where all the Blarney comes from.

This is how they portrayed the young promising physicists in the 60s soviet movies - wearing the same frames and hairdo. Just add the narrow lapels jacket, narrow tie, narrow pants and narrow toe shoes :o)

Oh lord, John! I had those very same frames when I was a kid. I switched out to "John Lennon" style round ones as a junior in HS, but before that... yeah.

My shoe boxes are filled with pictures featuring varying stages of shame.

I once was shaving my winter growth of a mountain beard, and as a gag, left only the hairs that were right under my nostills.

I barge into my next door neighbor's room and decare: "Hey Jess, better grab your camera, for this is only gonna last for the next five minutes.

The resulting Boq-in-a-Hitler-Mustache picture, has been the source of insider's joke for the past two decades.
