What looks like rust, isn't. The colors were enhanced to highlight something (but not the rust-looking stuff).

A cover on a sectioned weapon of some kind to stop the Armourer's fingers getting caught in the mechanism.

Yea.  A 1911.  Trigger spur is the clue.  Maybe an A1.

BCR - LOL, Yeah, you spit on beryllium and it emits a neutron. Although with the Armorers collection you can never be sure...
