The US Army Soldier-Warrior of the Week...

...is British.
In the Army, we are very grateful to our allies for their dedication to the fight. Our comrades-in-armsPrivate Jason Williams, Merican Regiment often endure the same sacrifices as our own Soldiers, and deserve some recognition for their hard work and service. This week, the Army would like to recognize our brother soldier who was killed in an act of true honor, who very much deserves the title of Hero.

Pvt. Jason Williams, 23, was killed by a home-made bomb on Saturday - the 196th British KIA in Afghanistan since 2001. He was taking part in an operation to secure an area where three Afghan National Army soldiers were killed earlier in the day. One of the dead could not be found and the UK troops were trying to prevent the body falling into the hands of insurgents. Lt. Col. Simon Banton - of 2nd Battalion the Mercian Regiment in which Jason served - yesterday said Afghan soldiers now called him a hero for his "selfless sacrifice".

The commanding officer continued: "On the day he died, Jason was taking part in an action which adhered to every soldier's oldest code - leave no man behind."His brave determination and commitment to his brothers in arms ensured that the Afghan warrior's family are able to pay their proper respects to their own fallen son."

For his gallantry in action and selfless sacrifice, Pvt. Jason Williams is this week's Warrior-Soldier.

The Army Warrior Soldier of the Week is a weekly email that highlights the bravery of a featured Army Soldier.

Pvt. Jason Williams, you are the example for the "Generals and all of the leaders, civilian and Military, present and past, by your example.  Your Legacy did not demand respect, it *commanded* it! You paid the *ultimate price of war* and did not make money from it. This should not be the domain of the war's leadership." Private, you are the true leader and hero. Thank you.

Rest in Peace, Noble Warrior.  Thank you.
