The opinion stated herein is strictly that of a single 'Rican. Please Mr. “Fishy Finder”, do not cast into your net the good name of neither Mr. and Mrs. Donovan, any other of my fellow Denizens, nor any welcomed readers gracing the pages of this fair blog. There is only one name that must go into your snitch’d black list, and it is mine alone: El Boquisucio Usted Y Tenga. Got it?
I am very disturbed today. whitehouse.gov has just issued an appeal for the general public to snitch on their fellow man. It reads:
Fishy! How dare you Mr. Phillips, ask my fellow Americans to snitch on me, just because I dare go counter to your Socialist Designs on my country. Excuse the HELCK out of me for pointing out what is stated in black and white for anyone to see. Section 102 of HR 3200 Spells-out the end of private health insurance in my country. It just happened that you got it buried deep inside your thousand page document so no one would see it.There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov. (Emphasis mine)
Which brings us to this gem:
Ms.
One last thing Mr. Phillips, In the D.C. Metro Region is not unusual to hear the saying: Snitches Get Stitches. Why is the White House encouraging Snitching on its honest citizens? Are you trying to intimidate me out of my First Amendment rights?
Boq

Oh....wait... I forgot, they're saying the amended bill won't be around until Sept....
I guess the next step is to disband all of the State governments, and rename the Nation "Chicago".
I suppose it could also be read as a warning that those who disagree will "sleep with the fishes".....
If I have to be a sea kitten... can I put my request in to be a swordfish instead of a mackrel? That way I can go down fighting.
Meanwhile, those mackerel certainly look tasty.
Teach a man to fish and he'll put up a website, post an open invitation to spam him, then use the generated traffic to justify a huge increase in his staff, a commensurate managerial promotion for himself, and a whopping increase in his operating budget.
Okay - I'll.... triple it! Well, your budget anyway.
Under the Bush Administration you couldn't protest, you must have a short memory about the "Patriot" Act. And most soldiers were in Iraq at the time looking for the "weapons of mass destruction" how did they know Iraq had weapons of mass destruction? Cheney and the Nixon mafia gave them to him when they put Sadam in power.
Since the Bush Administration the United States government can do all kinds of spying on ones neighbor and snitching. Things that some of my ancestors died for in the so called Revolutionary War Mr. Bohavntaclue.
Democrats may be nuts but Republicans are Ted Bundy nuts, oh that's right Ted Bundy was a Republican.
One would note your precious Democrats haven't done One.Thing. about the Patriot Act, either. Now that it's theirs, they like it.
I had ancestors fighting in the Revolution, too, and several other wars since then. Doesn't make my opinion any more or less valid than Boq's on this topic. And, it was a revolution, so why the qualifier?
Really, ma'am, we're happy to have an argument, but you should come better prepared to argue, if that's what you want to do. This was just sputtering outrage. We gottit, Republicans are Evil and the Source of All That Is Bad. Thanks for dropping in.
Oh. I guess that explains why we saw all those anti-war protests in various cities, including Washington DC just outside the White House, and "noble dissenters" like Cindy Sheehan and Code Pink camped just outside Bush's property in Crawford, TX.
Sorry. Saddam came to power in -- 1979.
*waving hiya to all the Jimmeh Cottuh fans*
BTW - since what you're doing is also just a straw-man and moral equivalency argument... I take it you are *supportive* of what the current Administration is doing - but only find it objectionable when the "other side" does it.
Regarding your "Since the Bush Administration" comment implies that this sort of thing has only been happening during the term of the recently ended Bush Administration, I would commend to you the Palmer Raids under President Woodrow Wilson, Lincoln's use of the Pinkertons, the COINTELPRO program, the FBI's data-gathering on USCITs during the Kennedy and Johnson administrations, Roosevelt's use of the FBI, along with Nixon's enemies list, etc.
It's nothing new. But I gather from your selective outrage, we are only supposed to get upset about it when a Republican does something of this ilk. It's okay when your guy does it.
Heh. You don't know us around here very well. We pretty much think they all suck, just that the alternatives are worse.
The only thing that keeps either side in check is when we the people hold their feet to the fire. It did used to be the job of the MSM, but they've been slipping in that arena of late. If it's all the same to you, I'll make sure it happens to both sides.
Come back when you have a sense of perspective.
