Thus, they have heavy turnaround and not many career politicians

Which is why you'll continue to see gerrymandered districts in Merryland. The Dems *like* being career politicians -- it saves them the trouble of actually working for a living...
The pitty is that as a whole, the state leans to the Democrats only because of The City of Baltimore and Montgomery and Prince George's Counties - Population wise the demographical center of gravity. The rest of the state is either purple (the corridor between Baltimore-Washington) or decidedly red (Western Maryland and The Eastern Shore).

But because of Gerrymandering, the Democrats have a lock-in both in the State Legislature and Congressional Districting. It is so locked-in that many potential Republican challengers never bother to run against the Democrat incumbents. I can't remember the last time Steny Hoyer ran opposed.
Hey BOQ...at least you didn't explain Old Maryland in Spanish like most of your posts do. But, I'm from NJ where a wasted vote is the norm and we're home of two of the Reps that voted for Cap and Trap. I feel for you about living in a Blue State. It's frustrating as hell to have the freedom to vote and no body to vote for.

I hear you need a good goose gun to take down some of those skeeters. Steel shot though, makes it rather expensive.
