        <![CDATA[Seeing those little steppy things in the pic brought back baaaad memories.<br />
<br />
When I was a boot noob, fresh out of infantry school, I noticed these low 'benches' that dotted the area around obstacle courses and other places where we'd be gathered up to sweat and curse.&nbsp; They were of a height that came to just below the knee on the average sized Marine.<br />
<br />
I thought they were for sittin on and resting. But, nooooooo. Those things were for stepping up and down on for an hour at a time. You know, because we just might, might mind you, be sent to someplace with hills or mountains that need climbing.<br />
<br />
There was some consideration allowed to our frail human bodies. The first time through, we didn't have to wear deuce gear. Second time through was full field load though.<br />
<br />
I still flinch at the sight of stairs.]]>
