Well, I dunno wot I was thinking when I stipulated the LITHGOW marking on the ex-P1907... any P1907 dated prior to early 1916 could have found swarthy new owners at Gallipoli. It could also have changed hands during the Mesopotanian Campaign...

I didn't blow it off, I'm just not enough of a geek to link the indicated rifles together. I kinda know what they all are, but other than that, and a SWAG that this has to do with boer service, I got nothing.

I could quibble about "all go bang" but I won't. Clearly, the most of the Usual Suspects® chose to blow the Castle off yesterday as a part of their Sunday activities.

...and the Mauser is fitted with a converted British P1907 bayonet. The original crossguard has been replaced with a longer one to suit the 'bar-on-band' mounting on the Turkish jobbie. If said bayonet is marked LITHGOW it's prolly a souvenier of Gallipoli... thus the linkage twixt the two pieces. Seems Kirk got the stock-disk, I can haz extra credit for ASFA= Askari Fabrika...?

Two shots of parts of Enfields...two shots of Mauser bits. Put them together and you get a Frankenfield...the conglomeration of two rifles into one the Turks played with.

Disk - October 1914, Queen's Own Dorset Yeomanry (Dorsetshire Regiment), weapon 324 (served at Gallipoli)

Its an Enfield No. 1 Mark III Short Lee BSA manufacture..at least that bit is.

The barrel shot indicates the mauser was imported.

Turk 1903 Mauser.

At least, this is my guess on a lazy Sunday afternoon. If I am correct, this is a very rare rifle to have in your collection. My congratulations.

They're either

1. Gallipoli vets

or

2. You have sliced yourself handling each one.

If that 1936 is the date of manufacture rather than a serial number, I'll stick with Numero Dos.
