Well, there is more to the story than was in the story. The group had agreed prior to leaving the FOB that if they were ambushed they would stay and fight. Not drive through the ambush. It was a familiarization patrol and I suppose the newbies wanted a little action.

4 days in country, 1 firefight and the Silver Star.
