Three Statements

You may accuse me of beating a dead horse, but our service members are my beloved friends, my heroes, people who have volunteered to serve during wartime and whom I think deserve a commander who genuinely cares about them... they deserve someone whose heart--as the man who must send them on dangerous missions for the benefit of others--beats with overwhelming love and gratitude for their willingness to serve.  I am not getting the impression that is the kind of CO they have, and that breaks my heart and makes the "sheepdog caretaker" in me want to rise up and growl on their behalf.

President Obama on the shooting at the National Holocaust Museum, posted the White House website within a couple of hours of the attack:

I am shocked and saddened by today’s shooting at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. This outrageous act reminds us that we must remain vigilant against anti-Semitism and prejudice in all its forms. No American institution is more important to this effort than the Holocaust Museum, and no act of violence will diminish our determination to honor those who were lost by building a more peaceful and tolerant world.

Today, we have lost a courageous security guard who stood watch at this place of solemn remembrance. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends in this painful time.
President Obama on Dr. Tiller, posted on the White House website within a couple of hours of his murder:

I am shocked and outraged by the murder of Dr. George Tiller as he attended church services this morning. However profound our differences as Americans over difficult issues such as abortion, they cannot be resolved by heinous acts of violence.
President Obama on the shooting of two soldiers standing in uniform outside an Arkanasas recruiting center, issued as an exclusive to the Associated Press, two days after the attack (never appeared on the White House website):

I am deeply saddened by this senseless act of violence against two brave young soldiers who were doing their part to strengthen our armed forces and keep our country safe. I would like to wish Quinton Ezeagwula a speedy recovery, and to offer my condolences and prayers to William Long’s family as they mourn the loss of their son.”

I agree with you completely.  And there is no cry from the MSM or the Administration to fo find out if the Muslim who killed our soldier was involved with other people - are more of these attacks going to happen?  Do they even care?

Bah.

There's been more coverage about the fact that the Holocaust shooter was a WWII Vet than there was about the recruiting station shooter being a converted Muslim.

The media bias in the country sickens me- not to mention the lack of outrage by our CiC over the death of a soldier on US soil at the hands of a terrorist.

This outrageous act reminds us that we must remain vigilant against anti-Semitism and prejudice in all its forms.

Including those emanating from, oh, say, *Iran*, perhaps?

Or, perhaps *not*...

Okay, I guess I have to take the beating on this one 'cause I don't see it.  What do you want him to say?  We'll spare no expense to find out who converted the AR recruiting station idjit and we'll burn their whole families to charcoal or sump'en?  Obama speaks politicalese, and it's a limited language.

I put it up to the weirdness that gives us a big hullaballoo over Lacy Peterson and CHandra Levy but nothing over the scores of other despicable murderes EVERY DAY.  The problem is infotainment parading as news more than there being something else wrong.  Okay, maybe there's the problem that people don't want to wind up in court fighting CAIR or get dragged up to Canauckistan or the EU to face a lawsuit there.  But Obama?  Look, I hate the guy as my Pres, but come on.

I would like the media to take a clue bat upside the head of the idjits running around saying the HM shooting and the TIller shooting prove anything---like Ayers, Ferguson, the ELF and Tre Arrow(what, with the ante upping in scientist intimidation that's sprouted there), and the Black Panthers shows that leftwing ideology leads to, invariably, to hateful revolutionary jackalopes leaving a trail of blood and bodies.  This guy wasn't a black swan.  60 years after the fact, a LONG trail of dysfunctional personality, and now it's he's a vet?  Okay, that's silly, but it's entertaining to certain types---which I find sick---- and entertainment sells ad spots which pays for all that TV and news we consume.

(Maybe we ought to reward those who do dry, bland, objective reporting instead of those with a talent for writing nice prose or giving us a pov?  Nah.)

Any language differences between the three statements are subtle, and there's room for argument. What really stuck in my craw was him taking TWO DAYS(!!!) to issue a reply, then making it an AP exclusive in order to limit distribution... AND THEN NOT EVEN POSTING IT ON THE WHITE HOUSE WEBSITE!

I'm sorry for yelling.  But you should've seen the look on the Marine's face I was discussing it with yesterday.  I think I scared him.  :P

Such lack of concern on the part of our Commander in Chief is no longer shocking to me.  I've said it before, and I'll say it again: A Socialist like him just has other priorities.  When will you all get it through your thick skulls, people of his ilk never will take our military in high regard.

Boq,

Lately, I have been considering the nature of our POTUS, and am leaning less towards his being a socialist, and rather more towards his being a true fascist.

  respects,

AW1,
You must be at LEAST a Senior Master Sergeant, you seem a tad too well informed to be less. (Of course, you could be a h-ll of a crew chief!)

   So, what you said!

   Alan D. Briley, RN
Former paratrooper, sniper, drill sergeant, grunt...! Currently, an intoxicated ER nurse. (D-mn that Jameson Irish Whiskey!)

...and perhaps Barry's language was tempered by the idea that soldiers may reasonbly expect to encounter deadly situations (although not normally at a recruiting station), while doctors attending church and museum guards do not.

I'm sorry Casey, but the very LAST place a soldier could be expected to be in a dangerous situation BECAUSE HE IS A SOLDIER is anywhere on American soil.  Rather, that is the place they could be expected to be safer than any other.  An American soldier shot by a fellow American BECAUSE HE IS A SOLDIER is a shocking as the locations of any of the other shootings these last two weeks...if not more so.

The exclusivity and slow response isn't adequate.

FbL maybe Casey was meaning the kind of view to always be prepared, not that one should have to be.

No, Casey has a point, Fuzzy. Soldiers, serving in some martial capacity, are ALWAYS valid targets of war. On vacation with their kids at Disney World or Disneyland on the days the parks are closed except for military DOES NOT qualify, but, even at a recruiting station he is fair game while he is performing some martial function. War is hell, and the rules(LoLW) only say what's outside the realm of fair and not that 'one shall never attack Americans when our backs are turned or in places we wish were inviolate'. There is no front line in this. It sucks, but it's true. There is no 'Fortress America' nor is our country/territory inviolate, which is why we've gone into their part of the world to unravel what allows the terrs to train, be funded and equipped. That they try to hit back, at a valid military target, is somehow WRONG? Sorry, not buying. More Grunts going to Fiddler's Green as part of the Long War Coterie. Sad they are, but, that's war. More names that go onto the wall, people we should never forget. Baracky not saying anything for 48+ hours? Look, the man's a weather vein. IT's rather expected and passe for deranged Moslems to take potshots at the US military. That's kinda the whole point. We don't expect vigilantes, in the case of Tiller, or whackados going to national monuments and shooting up the place. They're NOVEL, no matter how many times they happen, in ways that terrorists going after US MILPERs never will.
