REMARKS BY PRESIDENT OBAMA, GERMAN CHANCELLOR MERKEL, AND ELIE WIESEL AT BUCHENWALD CONCENTRATION CAMPWeimar, Germany CHANCELLOR MERKEL: (As translated.) Mr. President, ladies and gentlemen. Here in this place a concentration camp was established in 1937. Not far from here lies Weimar, a place where Germans created wonderful works of art, thereby contributing to European culture and civilization. Not far from that place where once artists, poets, and great minds met, terror, violence, and tyranny reigned over this camp. At the beginning of our joint visit to the Buchenwald memorial the American President and...

My first thought was endorsement of left-wing extremism by her omission, but then she sealed it with her fighting against the 'reich' of the National Socialist Party.

Funny how the three of us picked up on that...not scary but good, as if we are still watching.
Indeedy yes.

Not surprising, since Charles W. Payne may actually have been in the *Navy* in WWII. Charles *T*. Payne served in the 89th Division.
All that is necessary to dispel the myth of European intellectual "sophistication", "nuance", cultural "superiority", and diplomatic and poltical "prowess" is to remember how they allowed the rise of a monster like Hitler, appeased his aggression, and wrang their anti-Semitic hands as he butchered and enslaved millions of Jews and others in camps like Buchenwald, Dachau, Auschwitz, Bergen-Belsen, et al.

If that's not enough or if you consider it ancient history, just remember Bosnia, Croatia, and Kosovo - a mere 10 years ago.

For all of Obama's apologies, the world would be a much darker place without the light of Lady Liberty's torch.

The United States doesn't need to apologize to anyone.

                Bill,

I noticed that too. Only a communist could call the Nazis 'right-wing'. Merkel is no communist so how she sees the Nazis as right-wing is do to the pernicious myth started by the communists to discredit the political alternatives to themselves. Language, sadly, has been ceded to the left and it was ceded long ago.

Apparently, Mr. Obama's greatuncle has cut his legs out saying he never spoke to Barack about his war experiences and if Barack went to Buchenwald it was political decision.
Chancellor Merkel condemned left-wing extremism:

...there are no words to adequately describe what we feel when we look at the suffering inflicted so cruelly upon so many people here and in other concentration and extermination camps under National Socialist terror.

Although, in the lexicon of the Left, the National Socialist German Workers' Party is termed a *right*-wing organization.
...So the Germans stand resolute against right-wing extremism, but make no mention of left-wing extremism? Hmmm.

The rest of her speech was pretty good, until the last graf.

We shall fight against terror, extremism, and anti-Semitism.
Yoicks. Imagine the Germans actually fighting, period. That would be a change.

And (I hate to say it) Barry, SHUT UP! No, seriously, somone needs to edit his freaking speeches. Hasn't anyone told Mister Eloquent that shorter is better?

I'd suggest studying Churchill, but that wouldn't fly at all. ;)
