Answering the Whatziss' for Og. If you had taken the hint, as Eric did, you would have caught Og's comment on the previous Whatziss post, which pretty much gave you the asnwer to the first Whatziss. A Kettenkrad engine. Nice hobby that guy has. The second Whatziss? Compressed air bottles from a V1, of course. Sheesh, that was an *easy* one...

Well, we know how the Left is reacting to the murder of Dr. George Tiller, gunned down in Church on Sunday. Root out the Right-Wing Religious Terrorists, demanding that DHS dust off that report on Right Wing Terrorists and do something about it..
As long as we're including this flavor of religious terrorists, too.
A Muslim convert "with political and religious motives" shot two uniformed soldiers outside an Arkansas military recruiting center Monday, killing one and wounding the other, authorities said.
Police arrested Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, 23, on a nearby interstate shortly after the bloodshed at the Army-Navy Career Center in a shopping center in west Little Rock. Three guns were found in his SUV, they said.
Or, we could look at it more like - the shooters were a$$hats and/or unbalanced individuals, absence evidence of large conspiracies. Sometimes, they are just whackos. Has anybody trolled the Kossacks and DU to see their reaction and contorted reasoning? Or, evidence of even-handed analysis? I expect both the Far Left and Far Right will smother themselves in rhetorical glory. -the Armorer

Ya know, I will never understand why people think that just because you lean one way or the other and commit a crime... ALL of those who lean the same direction are criminals. There are Muslims, and Muslim extremists; there are Christians, and Christian extremists; we have Black Panthers and the KKK. Everywhere you look there's an asshat ready to take their beliefs to the extreme. It is up to the reasonable person to understand this. Unfortunately, we're running short on reasonable people these days.
On a completely different note... Here in Cincinnati, we just had a woman arrested for attacking another woman with a circular saw blade. (not the whole saw, mind you- just the blade) One of the comments cracked me up- "thank goodness it wasn't a semi-automatic circular saw blade!' Reminded me of the old saw (bad pun intended) "when make owning a gun criminal, only criminals will have guns".
Is Islamic terrorism, ipso facto, a "hate" crime?

Mr. Tiller is the fourth abortion provider to be killed since 1993; the attacks he and his Wichita clinic endured are not isolated events. The National Abortion Federation has catalogued 6,143 such incidents of violence in the United States and Canada between 1977 and 2009, including arson, bombings and butyric acid attacks. </block>
Those of us on the left understand that the person who shot Dr. Tiller isn't representive of the pro-life movement. But there is too long of a history of violent rhetoric and acts by people connected to the movement for pro-life folks to be able to claim the man isn't part of thier group. Plus, when you go to protests and people with the movement know you, that means you're part of it. It, also, doesn't help when members of your movement flood newspapers with comments stating their glad someone's been shot.
Look, I'm part of the environmental movement and so are the, thankfully now jailed, idiots from the Earth Liberation front. I really wish we could do more about PETA, they're an embarrassment an not helpful either. There will always be people who take things to far and it is the responsablity of the more moderate voices in any movement to try and keep those people in check.
The killing of Dr.Tiller is on the Pro-life movements shoulders. They need to own up to it and try to clean up their mess.
According to NAF, since 1977 in the United States and Canada, property crimes committed against abortion providers have included 41 bombings, 173 arsons, 91 attempted bombings or arsons, 619 bomb threats, 1630 incidentsof trespassing, 1264 incidents of vandalism, and 100 attacks with butyric acid ("stink bombs").
According to my count, that's 3,918 incidents, not 6,143 -- the majority of which occurred during the early '90s and included such "violent" activities as picketing and passing out leaflets.
The killing of Dr.Tiller is on the Pro-life movements shoulders. They need to own up to it and try to clean up their mess.
No more than ELF's tree-spiking and arsons are on your own shoulders, laddie-buck. Mainstream Pro-Lifers have consistently condemned and rejected violence as a form of opposition to abortion.
