Gimme summora this:

Republican Study Committee Chairman Tom Price, Congressman Kevin Brady, Congressman Jason Chaffetz, and other members of the RSC will unveil the Sunset Caucus, a permanent new initiative to shrink the size of government by eliminating federal programs, offices, and agencies. Each member of the Sunset Caucus will adopt a part of the federal government that has outlived its use or never should have been created and offer an amendment to strike it during the appropriations process, as well as introduce a stand alone bill to do the same.

However, I wouldn't stop there though it's a very good start, especially in this resource-constrained environment we live in.

As noted by Ayn Rand: "There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws":

Indeed.  Faster, please. -the Armorer

There are two sides to the argument that longer tours make for more effective soldiering in expeditionary COIN wars, and Max Boot's article in the WSJ makes me look at both without coming down firmly on either side.  I don't know that there's a firm right or wrong answer...  - Damian

*A term of art from the artillery. Harassment and Interdiction Fires. Back in the day, when you could just kill people and break things without a note from a lawyer, they were pre-planned, but to the enemy, random, fires at known gathering points, road junctions, Main Supply Routes, assembly areas, etc - to keep the bad guy nervous that the world around him might start exploding at any minute. Not really relevant to today's operating environment, right? But, it *is. The UAVs we fly over Afghanistan and Pakistan looking for targets of opportunity are a form of H&I fires, if you really want to parse it finely. We just have better sensors and fire control now. Of course, now I have to call them UAS's, because someone got a Legion of Merit for the name change.Anyway, I call the post H&I Fires because it's random things posted by me and people I've given posting privileges to that particular topic. Another term of art that might be appropriate is Free Fire Zone.

Yes - Customs is working on another way to criminalize us - they're trying to make pretty much any folding knife legally a switchblade (and thus subject to all the restrictdions).

See http://www.akti.org and/or http://www.kniferights.org for details.

Where the helk was this Tom Price fellow when we had the majority in Congress?

I haven't been around too many winters, but I'm pretty sure I've seen this game before. They toss out some red meat for us, when there's no chance of passing it, we rally, vote them back in, and nary a peep on this piece of legislation until they fall out of power again.

I dont know aobut Price, but Jason Chaffetz is a first termer from Utah.  He is the real deal and passionate about true conservative issues.  He's the guy who sleeps on a cot in his office.

I don't know if their sunset strategy has much of a chance right now, given the current flock of idiot incumbents.  But, it is worth a try.

If the deluded masses recover in 2010 it may be a way to undo some of the damage being wrought before our eyes in these trying times.
