D-Day, the Supreme Commander waits

Having started the war machine rolling, the Supreme Commander can now only wait - and hope that his small unit leaders, whether formal or informal, carry the fight home to the enemy. He's done what he can. Now it's up to the squads and platoons.

Many waited.  To a leader I suppose it's a moment of helplessness.  For all the ranks and titles, the lowest ranked Allied man in Normandie was far more important at the time.

We are fortunate the men had what it takes and that the plan worked.
