President Obama's remarks at Notre Dame *Updated with "as-delivered" text*

This is the transcript of the speech. The original post, the remarks as prepared for delivery, has been bumped below this. Just as a reminder, my (not-a-catholic) take on this is, "Fine with inviting the President of the United States to speak at commencement exercises, bemused with a Catholic institution bestowing an honorary JD on a politician who sees little boundary on the issue of abortion, and has voted not just supportingly, but has shown strong support for the more extreme end of the pro-abortion position." The awarding of the honorary JD goes beyond "tolerance and diversity of opinion" into the realm of endorsement of those views...

There are two Catholic Churches in the United States and Notre Dame is among the more schismatic of the two. Open hearts, open minds -- what crap (if you are a Methodist please don't be offended). There some issues where all an open mind does is leak. The speech as delivered is a subtle attack on Catholicism as it has stood for about 2000 years. This man is no friend of Christianity. I wonder how his Muslim schooling affected his religiousity at home? His Muslim fathers were areligious -- yeah right.

He is a very clever man and before he is done the damage will be irreparable to our 'Republc'. Sorry, Ben we weren't able to keep it.
Diversity drivel devised to delude each listener into believing whatever they want to believe, as long as the central conclusion is that The One is their true saviour.

After attending Rev.Wright's house of worship for 20 years, he should at least have the guts to stand up and tell us what he really believes- which is closer to Wright's "G-- D--- America" than to this pious platitudinous pap.

He tells each group what they want to hear, but will change his policies at any opportune moment. He has no core beliefs other than that power is good (for him) and that class warfare is beneficial, and that anything, said with apparent coviction and enthusiasm and eloquence is sseductive enough to expand his power.

Obama is a fraud, a chameleon, and a trojan horse full of ideas which are even now engaged in destroying our great nation from within.

Reminds me of the old environmental ad where the Indian gets a tear in his eye seeing what is happening to the land. We should be bawling like babies 24/7 at what we see-- or should see.
