hmmm....

First look, no research.  I'm thinking some kind of depth charge.  Toss it over the side, the weight puts the prop down.  As it falls, the prop turns, calibrated to X number of feet depth, where it goes off.

If I'm not mistaken, wasn't there some form of setting a certain desired depth on those?

a 1917 german bomb, or a 1918 british type for one of their large bombers. they both had the "strategic" bombers for it. I can't see an eye to hook it up on the underside of a small fighter bomber, so that narrows it down. but being here it prolly is a experimental mosquito repellant thingy  made by the ruskies in 2002.

I think it is of a later vintage than the Great War.  The earliest aerial bombs had long thin tails like an arrow's crest and fletching.  And no spinner for the arming fuse up front.

So I'm going to go with WW2 vintage or later.   Maybe an incendiary like the little magnesium or jellied oil bombs?

Rifle grenade converted to hand-thrown aerial bomb. Hard to tell with no inch scale, nor even any cat fur.

Is it Soviet?

Japanese Type 3 1/2kg HE cluster bomb.

Despite the success of the Harrier VTOL, the British government decided the next developement must be cheaper.

Teddy Kennedys suppository?

Well, Kirk seems to have nailed it. What a god ugly design, almost looks like they took caps from large  gas cylinders, welded on the fins and inserted the fuze arming prop. Ugh!

Kirk did indeed nail it - and Mr Jewell inspired me to this.

Dang, John ..... that's some pretty good Photoshopping!
