Of course, Heartless Lib got it correct, due to insider knowledge, which I should make illegal.  It's like John Not The Armorer "guessing" correctly on a gun *he* sold me...

This was indeed from a recent emailing from Dennis Kroh of Empire Arms, who has been an Enabler of the Castle for over a decade, much like John Not The Armorer, who along with Marc Wade run this crack-house-for-gun-nuts.

CHINESE Model 56 Siminov SKS black-powder muzzleloading rifle # 97 00002 (.50 caliber) mfg. by Norinco in 1997, literally the SECOND of only TEN ever manufactured. UNISSUED and literally unfired, with a wood and brass "ramrod" below barrel. Wood has a few nicks in the finish, but is otherwise as new, metal has 100% bluing. This is one of the rifles brought to the 1998 S.H.O.T. show in Las Vegas for display by Interstate Arms Corp, but further manufacture and marketing was abandoned after Chinese imports were banned. Nipple for primer-caps can be accessed by pulling back the bolt, hammer sets off the primer after bolt is closed, SKS safety also works as intended. Cool as all get-out. And yes, it's sold.  No, not to me, though I admit I was interested, but I didn't want to tell SWWBO I'd spent $750 on a black-powder SKS, however kewl it is in a curio kind of way.

UNISSUED... I should think so! Even the PLA ain't that desperate! Pretty cool, regardless...

A .50 cal SKS.  That would drive Feinstein and Schwarzenegger nuts....

That's just plain weird.

Might be why there were only 10 made...  your opinion being somewhat universally held by the firearms community...

So, of course, sitting here tonight, SWWBO sez "You could have bought that gun..."

If you HAD bought that gun...would you shoot it, or would you just hang it on the wall as a conversation piece?

Would I shoot it regularly, as its value stems from its nature as a curio?  No.  Would I shoot it?  Yes.
