I loathe "The One" and by extension his wife, but it doesn't mean I begrudge her being the toast of London.  As a matter of fact, since I am an extremely tribal person, once the Obamas go overseas representing America - I want her to be the hottest.  Even crazy, scheming pinko Americans are better than anyone else. lol! 

Fbl - she was hit or miss in the beginning, but I have seen no evidence of that lately.  I think she did get some kind of consultant.

For the rest of you, she is young and she has people to help her work out and dress her and help her with her hair and do her up - for pity's sake she better look good!  And that's fine, I wouldn't want her to be schlubby.

Besides the self-parody aspect, the adulation of Michelle Obama is especially disgusting when you remember 2 things:

1) She introduced Obama to Bernardine Dorhn (and most likely Bill Ayers) when they worked together at Sidley Austin in 1988-1989.

2) Was the driving force behind Barack's membership and attendance at Rev. Wright's Trinity United Church of Christ, where he listened to Wright's racist and anti-US sermons for 20 years.

She does have a unique/signature style.  But while sometimes she nails it with a fresh and appropriate outfit, other times it's an absolute fright.  She makes me often wonder whether she has anyone advising her on her clothing in terms of how it will look on camera, or among a bunch of suits.  It's just hit or miss.

And although she seems to be able to strike a pose, she is not a graceful person by any means.  Perhaps she is not entirely comfortable with her height, as is common with many tall women, but there are times when I swear she walks like a truck driver--for example, see the video from her entrance when she's visiting Queen Elizabeth.

Now, none of these things are worth throwing stones at her over; they aren't matters of character, etc., and she didn't ask to be a fashion/feminine icon.  But they stand out against these people who seem determined to deify her for fashion and style characteristics she just does not have.  I don't get it...
