One thing that struck me is that... how would we feel if that kind of stuff were happening here? I can relate to the guys on the side of the road by the truck, trying to stay very very small.

In a perfect world, we could avoid all wars, period. Unfortunately, we don't live in that perfect world.
The best option open to us is to maintain the capability and will to fight these wars on their soil and in their streets .... not ours.
One thing that struck me is that... how would we feel if that kind of stuff were happening here?
Isn't that, more or less, the American Revolutionary War?
