A new whatziss

We had such fun with the last one, let's have another.

And of *course* it's not as easy as it looks.

Or, maybe it is.

But prolly not.

So, what we got here?

Ok, I'll be the first - SKS with bayonet and bayonet lug removed?

I'll say a Gewehr 43.  But I doubt that's right.

Looks like a muzzle loading blackpowder variant of the SKS.  The wood on the stock looks too good to be the usual Chineese packing crate, so I'm guessing eastern Europian manufacture for the US market.

I thought it looked like an early Kalashnikov design.  Quick search with wiki, assuming it's correct, quickly found the truth.  But if it's THAT easy, I'm probably missing something obvious.

Since I'm on Empire Arms mailing list, too, I'll go ahead and say it: Pogue is mostly right.  It is a blackpowder SKS, and it is, in fact, Chinese.  Number 2 of 10.  Production was halted after the ban on importing Chinese firearms.

its is a John Wayne commemerative carefully detailed, very rare and 9,7 inch long miniature .22lr NRA version of the SKS celebrating his 53th birthday. It was withdrawn from the market after The Duke told the NRA that,  and I quote "I will stick your goddamn commie miserable weenie excuse of a rifle so high up your arse that you can pull the bloody trigger with your tongue if you don't burn them all!"

I'm confused, why would anybody build a muzzle loading blackpowder SKS???

It seems...uh...um...I don't know how to put this any other way...stupid.

" ... why would anybody build a muzzle loading blackpowder SKS???"

For speed-loading contests.  LOL

I'm so lost right now.

How is "now" any different from any other time?

HL, in a sense, that was cheating, kinda.  And certainly waaaay too soon.  We coulda had them sniffing around this for days.

Were you the guy who bought it?  I thought about it, but decided that was more money than I wanted to spend for a curio.

Very funny, Bill.

Well, answer the question, youngster.  We expect proper deference to The Eld 'round here.

There's a *reason* Lovecraft referred to us as the Great Old Ones, yanno.

And I'm almost positive I'll remember what it was.

Ummmmmm -- could you repeat the question again?

*Sigh*

I'm not usually quite this lost, oh great Bill, Lord of the Whirligigs...

Egyptian Rasheed, still doesn't look quite right to my failing memory, but it's been way too long.

John-

No, though I was intrigued.  Suffering from the twin problems of getting the garrison commander to sign off on my C&R, and cash flow, a result of heavy recent investing in brass, copper, and lead.

And I prefer the 'relic' side myself.  Maybe that's why I find you and Bill interesting.

What? This thing really is a black-powder muzzle-loader? Even with what looks to be a magazine reciever down there?

Or is someone funnin' us?
