Good morning, Mom

It's a beautiful day at the Castle, if a bit cold for your daffodils. That should improve over the weekend.

It's apparent the birds are no respecter of your bulbs, though. The ones planted by the Keep appear to have become bird fodder. The ones out in the woods and upper pasture are doing fine, however. Perhaps because they're guarded by the shades of Satchmo and Samson.

There are goats here now. And a huge dog named Buffy the Coyote Slayer. SWWBO is thinking about adding some angora rabbits to the mix. SWWBO is making pottery and spinning yarn these days...

You have a great-grandson now, too.

But you knew that, didn't you? I'll try to make sure Miles has that spark of Meriwether snark. Which shouldn't be too hard, considering his parents. Nurture will overcome whatever nature didn't bring to the table, I expect.

Give Little Girl a face skrunch for me, would you?

We miss you, Mom.

We never forget our mothers. Last night I was speaking with Eldest Sibling, my sister. We laughed our heads off over brick door-stop bread and other culinary quirks of our mother. Sister sibling confessed that it was she who had given our mother the hated, reviled and much loathed TVP.
I told her that there was still time in this life to get even with her for that...

Your mother is a great lady. You speak of her with love and respect. I know you will see her again..and your grandlad has a truly formidable guardian angel.

There are days to allow our tears for the passed and fallen to wet our cheeks...

But in that place in our soul, where the memories of them are stowed in golden boxes, it's a fine thing to think upon them with joy; joy that we knew them, shared their wisdom, enjoyed their fellowship, and love them still, and feel their love for us as a warm beam of sunlight upon our faces.

We remember them, and allow ourselves to pass through the sorrow of their passing, and instead remember a favorite joke, a poignant lesson, and one of a thousand memories that bids a smile cross our lips.

We may still cry, but we should laugh as well...

I'll join you in solemn sympathy, so long as we can join in merry remembrance.
He liked daffodils and daylilies, too......and was the person who taught me to shoot. But the most important thing my Daddy taught me was that I could do anything I wanted or needed to, if I worked hard enough.
