So, what difference *does* a day make?  Yesterday, I did a bit about the Dover Policy, linking to Lily Burana's op-ed from the LA Times.  And I named a few of the women who, wives or not, embodied this snippet from Lily's piece:

"But when it comes to acting on behalf of our kin and the larger military family, make no mistake: Wives are warriors too."

Emphasis mine.  The Blog Princess was one of the wives that I named as representative of the species.  She responded with her characteristic coquettish self-effacement:

"Thanks for the kind words. In my case they're undeserved, but nonetheless appreciated. "

Then today she goes all medieval on Mrs. Obama.  Snerk again.

Do *not* annoy the Blog Princess.  Gateway Pundit published a piece that got her fired up - not at Gateway, mind you.

She opens with: "You know, I'm becoming extremely tired of Barack and Michelle Obama lying to the American public and to military families."

So, what's got her reaching for a handy trivet?

This bit from the Gateway Pundit's post:

It's been at least 8 years since America has had such a self-absorbed and selfish First Lady. In a recent interview the Far Left wife of the antiwar president was just too impressed with herself for noticing that the military families actually sacrifice for their country here in America.

This is something Michelle Obama picked up on last year during the campaign-- seven years into the War on Terror.

Team Obama even went as far as to suggest that military families "had probably have never been invited to the White House."

So, she throws a brother a supporting line:

"As a Marine wife of 28 years, I can testify first hand that military families were frequent recipients of Presidential visits and attention during the Bush years. We were often invited to the White House and, while there, treated graciously and with warmth and decency.

I should know. During the year my husband was in Iraq I met the President many times. I was invited to the White House on no less than three occasions. I was invited to take place in conference calls on military issues. And I am no one important, influential, or special. All I needed to be what the wife of a United States Marine serving his country during wartime - that was enough for the Bushes. They actively reached out of military families over and over again, and it's about time for us to start setting the record straight."

Note to lefty journos who so hated President Bush (and probably aren't really all that fond of us military types) just because you didn't notice, doesn't mean it didn't happen.  It just means you didn't give a hoot until we became "your Army" fighting a war you now approve of because it's "your guy" running it.

I can't tell you much blinding-red rage that reality inspires in me these days.  It makes me want to tell them (against all logic and manners) something like, "Go to hell!  Let those of us who really care about them take care of them."
