        <![CDATA[Way back in the dim past one of the fellows in the navigation gang on the USS King had a little problem with ordering pencils. The unit of issue was a box containing a gross of pencils. The problem came about when the fellow ordered a goss of pencils. We had several cases of pencils tucked into a storage space adjacent to the foreward stack. when I arrived in '68&nbsp;Three years later when I left the ship, there were still several cases of pencils tucked into the storage space.]]>

        <![CDATA[Yep. AIT, Goodfellow, AFB&nbsp;(the Army has a training battalion there - sekrit spook stuff). 1986. We actually didn't have any bumf.... supply for some reason couldn't get it. Cadre was reduced to making bad jokes about how to succeed using only a single square. <br />

We bought the stuff ourselves at the PX/Commisary and handcarried our personal rolls to and from the latrines. <br />

        <![CDATA[You should've seen the paper trail generated when my buddy Norm and I asked the S-4 for six red lightbulbs for Flight Ops during night training.<br />

Four weeks later, we went to the local hardware store and *bought* the farkin' things.<br />

Three months after we did *that*, S-4 force-issued us a gross of red light bulbs...<br />]]>
