Speaker Pelosi edition:

Six billion out of work by Christmas! I guess that means we're gonna hafta back off on that whole abortion thingy, if we're gonna get from 300 million people to 6 billion so that we can all be unemployed...

Oh, and we're gonna hafta go whole hog on that IVF/fertility drug thingy, too.

Remember, only two months left to breed enough people to make Nancy look smart!

Bad Cat Robot has a plan to help pad the numbers...

I've just come up with a fiendishly clever idea. You know how the PETA people are always trying to say animals have the same rights as humans? So, just declare cats (and to keep John and Bill happy, dogs) as human! That will keep the count up. Plus, I can declare two dependents on my taxes this year! The lazy bums don't have jobs either, so I should get some of that sweet stimulus cash.

(Goldfish cannot be claimed as human, but you can elect them to represent you in Congress.)
Princess Crabby offers up this admonishment in terms of doing our duty for SanFranNan:

IVF? That's not my preferred method of procreation.

Also, remember, we want to get it right.........so practice, practice, practice.

Maggie

Yeah, I know it's just a slip of the tongue. But you can imagine the reaction had it been from a White House lectern with a Texas twang just 30 days ago...

Hey! Speaker Pelosi represents exactly 646952 (+/- the normal vagaries of life and the Census) people in San Francisco, and it only took 1/2+1 of those who *voted* to put her in the office, though she routinely pulls 80% in an election. However, this year she only pulled in 71% (8th District).

Then she only had to convince a simple majority of the Democratic Caucus to get foisted upon us as Speaker. While the whole house votes on the position of Speaker, let's face it - if your caucus is bigger than the other guys, you've only got to convince your guys, who cares about those hosers across the aisle.

So, 204,996 voters in her district, and 255 people on the Student Council of the United States was all she had to convince to get the job. Not quite like the President. Harry Reid didn't have to convince that many people for his job, either, coming from a low-population state. Nevada's population is less than that of Kansas - though I'm not goin to take the time to figure out how those numbers break out by eligible age groups or things like illegals... Suffice it to say that Harry Reid has to convince fewer people of his worth in order to secure and keep the Senate Majority Leader job than, say, former Senator Clinton did just to get her seat.

So US population according to wikipedia is 306 Million. Looks like you're all going to have to fired rehired and fired quite a bit, unless Maggies brainstorm works of course. There simply aren't enough testubes for this sort of thing.

She takes fear mongering to interesting extremes. It's nice to know she is one of the key leaders and a member of the intellectual elite of the USofA. It's even nicer to know your fellow citizens elected her to office.
