Sri Lankan Navy IR video of the LTTE (Tamil Tigers) failed suicide (well, the pilots succeeded in dying, but failed in their mission) air attack using small aircraft that were smuggled into Sri Lanka in pieces and assembled by the rebels.

Damn Canadians. They're trying to invade. And succeeding, too. Who'da thunk we'd find Texas overrun with German tanks? Of course, mebbe they can secure our southern border, since we don't seem to have the will or capability. H/t, a certain Strathcona alum. -the Armorer

Oh, gad. The NRA is going to have to rework the old ad. You remember the one - "Guns don't kill people, people do."
Heh. From the Boston Herald:
Jules Crittenden, who *should have resisted* just couldn't resist the whole James Bond meme... -the ArmorerJames Bond’s gun of choice has been targeted for a recall.
Smith & Wesson said yesterday that it’s recalling all Walther PPK and PPK/S guns manufactured between March 2002 and early this month.
The Springfield firm said a defect could allow the $605 weapon to go off without anyone pulling the trigger.
“While we have no reason to believe that the condition affects every pistol produced during the designated period, we have chosen in the interest of safety to replace the hammer block in every (weapon) that is returned,” Smith & Wesson said in a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing.
In a memo to customers posted on its Web site, the Springfield firm advised owners of the gun to “STOP USING YOUR PISTOL AND RETURN IT TO SMITH & WESSON AT ONCE.”

With Bill gushing like a proud father about his cadet aviators, 1SG Keith decided to jump on the bandwagon, too - since CNN and crowd doesn't see things like establishing high-quality schools and having high quality graduates as newsworthy. 1SG Keith on the National Military Academy - Afghanistan. -the Armorer

Another troop - as yet un-named - has joined Lt. Easterling in his tiltling at the birth certificate windmill. Quixote has found his Sancho. Like I said, it will be interesting to see how it plays out. H/t, Kevin. -the Armorer

Afghanistan graduated their first class of "West Pointers".... damn cool.
Oh, and S&W- I wonder how many lawsuits will now be waged against them by those who either were actually victims of accidental discharge, or those who will claim that accidental discharge is the reason they "accidently" killed or wounded someone during a crime. *rolls eyes*
I can't wait.
Good to hear about the progress with the school as well. 84 is a reasonable outcome under such conditions I think. A number of people with changed direction can alter a society.
heh,
Regarding the accidental discharge problem, I am given to understand that Plaxico Burress was unavailable for comment. :)
Speaking of gun safety videos, here's my favorite:

However, if anybody got hurt because of this, it's the owner's own damn fault. If you just stop pointing loaded (or ANY) firearms at people you don't want to kill, you won't have a problem. Except of course, for the problem that you just wasted $605.
We also suspect that we may have to nuke Congress, we hope everyone will be fine with that? On the plus side also our banks actually have money in them and will make loans to people who know how borrow money and pay it back.
Um, Colin, people who use second-hand Panzers will be getting these nukes from exactly where?
8^ )
8^ )"
Well, if they promise to use them properly and apply them to the target(s) as indicated in the Colin Proposal, we could loan em a few?
Liability issues make for nervous and over-reactive manufacturers, eh?
I have no sympathy for "The One" and his birth certificate folly. He brought it on himself. It's not like he was completely above board and honest.
I am not saying I believe those who say he is not a citizen. My personal opinion was that he decided he wanted his privacy on this issue and that bit him in the behind. I like my privacy too....that's why I don't run for public office.
It's no different than that incident shortly after the election where he wanted to take his daughters for ice cream and was peeved the press followed him. You chose this job. You want it, you get all that comes with it.
If Obama and his supporters want to put this behind them, then produce the stupid birth certificate and stop dancing. Otherwise we are looking at a lot more of this kind of stuff. It's not earthshaking and it won't bring down our form of government, but it's annoying. What's most annoying is that as far as I can tell it's also needless. There is nothing more at work here than "The One"'s narcissistic personality disorder.
So you think you got all your nuke depth charges back? The Secert Order of the Beavertails (S.O.B.'s) have been preparing for this moment for a long time...........;-)
Come on over to California. We'll do what we can to spot for any arty you can bring.
It's what you'd call a target-rich environment.
An unfortunate bug in otherwise bloggy goodness, that habit.
Now see, I disagree with the good Captain Heinrichs' approach to the problem. The LT in question swore an oath to the Constitution, NOT the President, and if he resigns his commission over concerns about the "won's" birth certificate, then he has, in effect, given up his position of strength in the argument. In fact, it plays into the "Lightworker's" hands.
By remaining in the service, and joining in the lawsuit, he (the LT) ensures that he will have standing in the court, as he is subject to the lawful orders of the Prseident, and therefor he (the LT) has a vested interest in knowing that the CinC is legitimate.
As I commented at Lex's place. I'm not taking a side regarding whether or not Mr Obama is a "natural born" citizen, because KNOW ONE KNOWS the truth regarding this issue.
Mr Obama has NOT produced evidence, the same evidence that I have to produce in order to obtain a driver's license, apply for VA benefits, or obtain a US Passport. I fail to see what the big deal is about him producing his Certifed Birth Certificate. If he, as CinC, is going to require it of his officers, he ought to be willing to produce his own and settle the issue once and for all.
To sate, NOTHING that Mr Obama has produced regarding his status as a "Natural Born" citizen would be acceptable as legal proof of citizenship at even the smallest local government office. Not even the DMV.
All he has to do is produce the original document, and all this problem goes away. :)
respects,
i look at it as a "process flaw". the Constitution specifies requirements for a particular position, and Constitution charges Congress with making all necessary and proper enabling legislation to put itself into effect. Congress (all of them, jointly and severally, since inception) completely failed to establish any kind of a credentialing committee to check that presidential aspirants met the baseline requirements. it shouldn't be that tough for either chamber of the legislature to come up with a process; after all, they each have the authority to determine the qualifications of their own membership. how tough would it be to impose an additional duty on such a committee every four years, just to check the creds of the candidates who announce their intentions and file for the run??
your point about producing your own creds in order to get a driver's license or to join the military is particulary apt. as CinC, any president is commanding those who had to present creds in order to establish that THEY were valid to serve; hence, any president should be required to do the same.
all that being said, the LT is taking a rather sledge hammer approach to the issue. on the other hand, sometimes you just have to have a train wreck in order to determine whether the ambulances are all in working order.
Mike,
I agree completely that the good El Tee's execution is flawed. He was, according to the lawyer pushing the case, admonished NOT to send out the letter he sent, but he chose to release it anyway. In that regard he reaps what he sows. I consider that, however, to be an entirely separate issue from what he is questioning. IOW, I am aghast at his methods, not his question.
Be interesting, regardless. You know that Lincoln also had to deal with comparable issues, and that while waging an horrendous civil war. So there's precedence for this sort of thing, anyway. :)
