      <![CDATA[<p>The Dark Lord, hight Sly, she who is acknowledged as among the&nbsp;Villainous Company here at Castle Argghhh! stands buffeted by the winds of&nbsp;that cruel lord that will master us all, in the end.&nbsp; <br /><br />Entropy.<br /><br />It has been a tough year for DL&nbsp;Sly.<br /><br />Today she farewells her mother.<br />&nbsp;</p><blockquote><p>Lorene Ruby Brock, 75, of Warrenton, died Saturday Jan. 3, 2009, in Seaside.<br /><br />She was born Aug. 16, 1933, in Harlan, Ky., to John and Mabel (Middleton) Christian. She attended schools and Loyal Business School in Kentucky.<br /><br />On Aug. 6, 1954, she married Richard Brock in Rossville, Ga. He preceded her in death. <br /><br />Mrs. Brock was responsible for starting the housing authority locally in 1976, and was the executive director from 1976 to 1994, when she retired. <br /><br />She was involved in various projects in the area including Uniontown and the J. J. Astor Hotel housing conversion. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Warrenton as well as a bowling league. <br /><br />Family members said she enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren's events.<br /><br />She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Sherry Brock of Tillamook; a daughter and son-in-law, Shari and James Young of Valley Center, Calif.; a sister, Irene Atwood of Gary, Ind.; a brother, Vern Christian of Gary; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. <br /><br />She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Brock. <br /><br />A memorial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Warrenton First Baptist Church, 30 N.E. First St.<br /><br />Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association, in care of Hughes-Ransom Cremation &amp; Mortuaries, 576 12th St., Astoria, OR 97103.<br />&nbsp;</p></blockquote><p>T'was only&nbsp;this summer she farewelled her father.<br />&nbsp;</p><blockquote><p>Richard Roland Brock<br />Richard Roland Brock, 80, of Warrenton, died July 14, 2008, in Astoria.<br /><br />He was born April 22,1928, in Cloverdale, Ky., to parents Virgil and Della (Parker) Brock.<br /><br />He and Lorene (Cristian) Brock of Warrenton were married Aug. 6, 1954, in Rossville, Ga. They moved to Astoria in 1980, then moved to Warrenton in 1995.<br /><br />He retired in 1980. He worked for the school district in Hebo for about five years.<br /><br />Mr. Brock spent three years in U.S. Army and 25 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1975. He served during Korean and Vietnam conflicts.<br /><br />He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved working in his garden. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 12<br /><br />Mr. Brock is survived by his wife, Lorene Brock of Warrenton; son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Sherry Brock of Tillamook; daughter and son-in-law, Shari and James Young of Valley Center, Calif.; sister, Lois Atkins of Mathews, N.C.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.<br /><br />He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Brock.<br /><br />A public memorial service will be at First Baptist Arrangements are by Hughes-Ransom Cremation and Mortuaries, Astoria.</p></blockquote><p>At Villainous Company, they've already said <a href="http://www.villainouscompany.com/vcblog/archives/2009/01/one_moment_more.html">goodbye, Godspeed, farewell in support of Sly</a>.<br /><em>(Link updated - Adjutant)</em><br /><br />Accordingly, now&nbsp;is the time at Castle Argghhh! when we dance:&nbsp;In Memoriam for <a href="http://www.thedonovan.com/archives/historystuff/fanfarcommonman.mp3">Mrs. Lorene Brock</a>, and her husband, <a href="http://www.thedonovan.com/archives/echo%20taps.mp3">Technical Sergeant (Ret'd) Richard Brock</a>, United States Air Force.         <![CDATA[Very possible that my Aunt &amp;&nbsp;Uncle, Muriel and (SFC, ret) LeRoy Dunn, also of Warrenton, OR, knew them.... LeRoy is a wheel in the local VFW there. <br />
<br />
I'll have to ask. Warrenton isn't a very large place. <br />

        <![CDATA[It has indeed been a tough year for Sly.&nbsp; Tonight is supposed to be the biggest full moon of 2009.&nbsp; I choose to think that there's a reason&nbsp;it is happening on this particular day.<br />
An otherwordly send off perhaps?&nbsp; Hoping she has clear skies to see it tonight.<br />]]>
