Something new, something not-so-new...

...the "something new" is the number you *should* be writing instead of the number you'll *probably* be writing for the next couple of days. Or, if you're like me, for the next couple of months.

The "something not-so-new" is that I finally got up off my dead ass a break from writing lesson plans and courseware and had a chance to take care of BCR's 'toon jones. A twofer, in fact. Now, those of you who are regulars already know that she posts her Sunday Funnies commentary whenever the PNW is *not* being pelted with solid oxydihydride. Snow on the ground has the same effect on her that blood in the water has on red-bellied piranha...

First, some insider info: when an online 'toon goes on hiatus, that's a euphemism for "the suckitude of Real Life rolled over the 'toonist like a turbine-engined King Tiger" and he -- or she -- or they -- need a breather. That happened to Lawn Darts, one of her personal recommendations (and one of my own favorites), and I'd done a guest-'toon for Amy and Jason, but they decided it was time for some total quietude. However, since the only constant in the Argghhh-onauts storyline is me being in Iraq and getting shunted around within the meager confines of my brain, the following (and subsequent) li'l vignette should reduce BCR's snark to a dull roar and should keep John from bugging the crap out of me moderately content.

Happy New Year to you all.

And you, Rikkochet.

Bill - this has potential.  You may proceed.  I've given you another raise, too.

Geeesh - Were you in a "Lump-o-coal" dispensing mission?

I'm glad you finally realized it is all about keeping me happy ;-)

Happy New Year, everybody!!!

I just got a letter from IUPAC.  It's a cease and desist letter.  They want Unka Chief to stop abusing their waaaay confusing rules for naming compounds, or they'll sue.  I threw that on the same pile of letters I get from Green Peace demanding restitution from Armorer for denting Mother Earth that time he Aussie repelled from a helo rather interestingly.

IUPAC, SCHMIUPAC. I'll still call the stuff in that can I got from the hardware store, Methyl Ethyl Ketone. This comment brought to you by Ethyl Hydroxide.

What about good old dihydrogen monoxide?
